| We finally were able to move into our new home (although we did not close yet but that's a different story...). We love it! Martin just returned from a weeklong business trip to Shanghai. Impressive. You'd better start learning Chinese. We finally bought a car. An Infiniti G35. It's a whole big world out there in New Jersey. Steve had to withdraw from his Ironman attempt in September 2002 because of a back injury the weekend before the race. Ouch! You can still read his report about the experience at last year's Half- Ironman and view pictures. We left Manhattan last September and moved across the Hudson to Hoboken (birth place of Frank Sinatra and baseball). The move had nothing to do with September 11. We really like our little town and are buying a 4 bedroom apartment. It comes with a private backyard and a garage space (so we will be car owners again). It's only about 1/2 a mile from our current rental. After numerous delays we hope to move in in October (we'd better, with a baby due in November). Martin got his Green Card in May 2002. Did not come easy. If anyone still thinks the Germans are the worst bureaucrats why don't you go and have yourself some fun with the INS. Mary Helen graduated from Duke's Global Executive MBA Program in December 2001. We're glad it's over. Innumerable times she could be heard muttering "I hate accounting". Don't we all after Enron, Worldcom...? After Martin's dotcom crash and burn he found a new job with Deloitte Consulting in New York and he really likes it. Just had his 1 year anniversary in September. We got married on 20 Jan 01. Hooray! For those of you who did not believe it would ever happen: Haven't we told you so for the past 7 years?
