Dear Family & Friends:

Countdown: 154 days (Due date: November 22nd)

Well it's time for another update from the proud parents-to-be.  I am now blowing-up like a balloon... so, for all my friends who have envied me for being able to eat to my hearts content & not really show it... you don't have anything to fear b/c it is possible.  I'm now in Week 20 and have been gaining 1# per week for the past few weeks- I've gained 10# thus far.... only another 15-25 more to go.... yipee :-(

Due to the changes and imbalances that have 'assaulted' my body, I have developed a minor joint displacement in my hip that is mimicking sciatica (a pinched nerve) causing some major challenges with my ability to walk/ bend/ etc.  As a result I will have physical therapy 2x each week to help resolve it.  My first appointment is tomorrow morning. I understand the facility is a 'spa-like' atmosphere with soothing music, aromatherapy, massages, yoga, etc.... can't wait for the bi-weekly relaxation opportunity.  Adding to this 'bliss' is the fact that my insurance will cover 100% of it!!!

Some of you may know, I had an amniocentesis (since I'm a bit old and thus at risk) a couple of weeks ago- everything looks good.  In November, there will a little Martin-i around the house.... yep, a little nephew for those in the family.  Martin was very excited with this news and is already checking out tennis and Fussball (or soccer for those Americans)lessons for him already...  He's already planning for the next "Tiger" so he can support his parents in early retirement :-).  He's a very proud dad already, talking to the baby (in German).  This excitement was, however, short lived.  He realized that he will be responsible for all the public bathroom breaks in the near future.  Tee hee hee... welcome to a small reality of fatherhood :-)

We plan to raise the baby bilingually- German and English.  So if anyone has a good reference on this issue- let me know.  Next week we will have the ultrasound to make sure all the hand and toe digits are there. Hopefully, we will find some time and post the pictures or short
movie clip onto our website before the delivery (www.homewebsite.net).

I started my first knitting class this past weekend- my goal is to make 1 baby blanket.... so far it's fun but I'm already starting to wonder if I've started on a project that will bore me to tears and thus I will not have the patience to finish it.... yikes.

Anyhow- I hope everyone is doing well & enjoying their summer & the heat.

All the best- MH and Martin

(Apologies to anyone that we have not had a chance to call directly to tell you that I was expecting.  We wanted to make sure all the tests were looking fine before announcing the good news)
