| Chinese Yoga is a method of Yogic Teachings, based on Buddhist Monastic Yoga practices, developed from Bharatan (Indian) Yogic Teachings. Training of the body, in Yogic practice methods, took many different paths within India & China. In India, the Hatha (Strong) Yoga is the most prominent. China developed a system of physical training which had no Indian equivalent, at least during the Vedic Period. Hatha Vedic Yoga lacked a foundation of kinetic paradigms, whereas Chinese Yoga seems to have originated with an already fully developed awareness of Kinaesthesia. Each of these nations based their awareness of bodily development upon a spiritual & philosophical foundation. In India, the Vedic Diety Brahma became the base from which all spiritual experience ensued. Within China, the Diety Shang Ti performed much the same function although later spiritual systems replaced the simple Theistic belief with a para-theistic concept of TAO or Adhi Buddha. The period of Chinese history most productive from the Yoga aspect (Yui-Chia) was the Tang Dynasty (approximately 550-845 A.D.). During this period, Chinese thought was developed and extended by Buddhist Monks. Missionaries came from southern & northern India by 800 A.D. We find Tantric mystical Buddhism developing an intricate, yet practicable Yogic philosophy of Therapy, Mantra, & Doctrine. More explanation on history & lineage is furnished to all Seito who study Mushindo Ryukyuan Kempo. A forty-five page manual is furnished to all students as Chinese Yoga is the basic exercise program practiced by all Mushindo students; from the Yokasei (entry or novice) level to all Yudansha (black belt) grade levels. |
