A/N:
Konnichii wa! This is my first story with my -own- characters, so please be kind. ::bows:: I know its kind of clich, but Well, deal with it. XD I own the plot and all of these characters, with the exception of one Vampire, who belongs to my friend Mai, that wont be coming in for a few more chapters. Please dont steal them. Oh, and I dont own the song lyrics that are in this chapter, they belong to AFI. That band rocks my world Anyway, without further ado, Shuutoku Shoukyaku(Oh, dur. It means Finding Redemption in Japanese.)!!!Trees and green scenery whizzed passed as ice blue eyes stared blankly out of the backseat car window. A set of headphones were over his ears as he listened to his music silently. He had a fair complexion and soft facial features. Ebony hair was down, framing his face in a choppily layered cut. A hand, belonging to his little sister Emilie, pulled one of the arms of the headset, off his ear.
(There are no flowers, no, not this time.
There will be no angels gracing the lines,
Just these stark words I find.
I'd show a smile, but I'm too weak.
I'd share with you, could I only speak,
Just how much this hurts me.
I'd tell you how it haunts me,
I'd tell you how it haunts me,
I'd tell you how it haunts me,
You don't care that it haunts me)
Lucien. Mum wants to know if youre getting hungry, she said, his music now audible to everyone.
The boy, Lucien Carnesr, glanced over at her, ice blue eyes meeting hazel. She was just about the same height as himself, which he got teased for by his elder sister. Emilie had natural ebony hair like Lucien, but she dyed it to be a lilac colour. Lucien just shook his head slightly in response, going back to staring out of the window. Emilie sighed and let go of the headset, letting him listen to his music in peace. Leslie, the eldest sibling, glanced at Lucien then Emilie. She had tawny hair with black low-lights and dull green eyes.
I know you worry about him, Emilie. I do too, as do mom and dad, but weve tried everything. He just isnt going to talk anytime soon
And it was true, theyd tried giving him counseling, just letting him be, pampering him, everything. Right now, they were trying the last thing they could think of: moving. Theyre moving from their hometown in North Carolina up to Maine.
They continued driving for a while and the station wagon turned onto a smaller, yet long, road. It was their driveway and soon the car was parked and they started getting out of the car. Lucien was the last one out. He stood at 56 while Emilie stood at 55 and Leslie at 56 as well. He stopped his CD and glanced around the secluded place he was supposed to now call home. His mother, Minna, smiled gently at him.
Well, Lucien? What do you think?
He glanced at her and offered a small smile to show he liked it. She sighed softly and smiled a bit more, thinking, Hell warm up to it Im sure he will They started unpacking the stuff they had brought with them in the car and went into the house. As they just got everything into the house, the moving truck pulled into the driveway. After a few hours, everything was as settled as much as it could be for the moment and Lucien started to head for the front door. Leslie looked up from a small chair she was sitting in.
Youre going out Lucien? she asked. He glanced at her and nodded slightly. She nodded as well, Alright Just make sure youre back by ten, hmm? He nodded again and went out of the house, grabbing a dark blue windbreaker. He walked down the long driveway and started to wander along the streets of his new neighborhood.
He paused in his step a few times to observe other kids playing on their front lawns, but he never went over to them. One cheery little girl waved at him but he just turned and started walking again. Eventually he got into a downtown area and glanced around. He spotted a 7-Eleven and went into the small convenience store. After getting a cup and filling it up with the slurpee liquid, he went up to the counter and waited in line.
"Hello. I haven't seen you here before, and believe me, I've seen just about everyone in this town. Are you new?" A slightly deep voice behind him asked, as an arm was rested casually on Lucien's shoulder. Lucien glanced to the side and at the other male. The other was at least four inches taller than Lucien and had darker skin, but not quite tanned either. He had shoulder length, wavy dark auburn hair and deep emerald green eyes.
Lucien nodded slightly, not saying anything, too entranced in the others appearance even if he was going to say something. The auburn-haired male blinked slowly and quirked an eyebrow, saying, "So, yare new. I take it youre shy as well? Dont like to talk to strangers and all of that, eh?" A small nod was all the response he got. The strangers lip twitched upwards slightly, finding Lucien somewhat amusing for one reason or another. "Well, my names Mikael Elensar. And you going to tell me yours, now that you know me more?"
""
Mikael frowned slightly and sighed, "Alright Can you tell me what grade youre in?" Lucien nodded slightly and with one hand, held up five fingers then five fingers again. "Ah Tenth grade. Same here. Hey, maybe we'll have a few classes together!" Mikael exclaimed, grinning at the other. The smaller boy smiled lightly and nodded.
"Next please," called the store clerk. Lucien went up and silently paid for his slurpee. As he was leaving, Mikael grabbed his arm and handed him a piece of paper, saying, "It's my address. In case you or your family need someone to help introducing you around the city and such." Lucien smiled and nodded, stuffing it into his pocket and waved good-bye to him.
He headed home, not going to bother explore more of the town right now as he was tired. On his way home, all he could think about was Mikael. How nice, friendly and hospitable he was. Soon, he returned home and went inside his new house.
Tavis, his father, looked up as he entered. Tavis hadn't been with them on the car ride down as he was already in Maine, working there a few weeks before they moved up. He smiled a bit and said, "Hey, Lucien. You went out exploring I hear. Did you like the town? Or what you saw of it at least?" Lucien nodded slightly and handed his father the note from Mikael that contained his address on it.
"Well Isn't that hospitable," he said as he read it. He looked back up at Lucien and smiled, "Alright. I'm proud of you, already making friends." Lucien smiled a bit and nodded, albeit a bit hesitantly. His father sighed a bit, "Alright. You can go upstairs and settle in more if you want now."
Lucien smiled a bit more and gently hugged his dad then padded silently up the stairs. He got into his room and flopped down on his bed. He finished the slurpee and chucked it at the trashcan then stripped down to his boxers and curled up under the covers, instantly falling asleep as his head hit the pillow, exhausted.
A/N: I know It's a very slow start, kind of boring, and kinda short. GOMEN! ::bows deeply:: But I promise, it'll get better as it moves along! =^-^= And if anyone has any ideas about something they'd -really- like to see happen, just let me know and I might use it. Also, I don't have a Beta, so if you'd like to Beta my work, I'd be forever grateful! To Beta my work, just leave a review that says you'd like to and a sample of one of your writings and I'll get back to you. I think that's it So, ja for now! Hopefully it won't take me too long to get my muses in gear and type up the next chapter! XD
See a picture of Lucien!
