The finest in my opinion

His Opinion: The BEST Fantasy!

Ever since I picked up my first Eddings Book in 1993 (Guardians of the West), I have always adored David Eddings works. I have read other fantasy authors (such as J.R.R. Tolkien and Lloyd Alexander), but never found their stories to be so captivating or interesting. David Eddings always describes his worlds and characters so completely I have no problem imagining them. Long live Eddings! :)

His Opinion: The BEST Fantasy!

David Eddings really is the best of fantasy. I've read a number of other fantasy authors - including Terry Brooks, Piers Anthony, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Tolkien, but these pale into insignificance beside Lord Eddings. His best series is the Belgariad/Malloreon, of course, but even the Elenium is twice as good as anything else I've read. Perhaps the best thing is that you really live with the characters - (though I am NOT deluding myself here) it's almost another world in the mind of every Eddings reader. I've read each of his books at least 6 times (Bel/Mal much more) and they're just as good every time I read them - I certainly hope I never get bored with them!) I am really sad that Eddings is not intending to continue with the Bel/MAl particularly, but also the Ele/Tam. Ah well. I guess I'll have to continue reading the books I've got - especially Polgara the Sorceress, his best yet. Hail Lord Eddings...

A great author

His Opinion: Very, Very Good

David Eddings is an excellent author. Unlike most authors, there is much charactor interaction in David Eddings work. I have read his books many times.

Though is is a great author, David Eddings many times forgets that his charactors are not gods. In many of his books they seem invincible, and in a way they are. Durnik is brought back to life, and Kirik comes back when the goddess needs him. In many cases his charactors are too powerful without enough limits.

While I think David Eddings is a great author, he still does have a lot of room to improve, but, don't all authors. :)

Mr. and Mrs. Eddings

His Opinion: The BEST Fantasy!

On the publication of Belgarath the Sorcerer, we discovered that there are two minds behind the creation of the Belgariad, the Elenium, etc., and married minds, at that! It made sense to me when I made that discovery myself. Have you noticed the honesty and the objectivity of the authors in portraying all the elements of real life? Sex and marriage, religion, war, friendship, growing up... The whole of life, really, and it often takes a team effort, especially a team with both sexes, to arrive at such a complete vision of real life with even intimate and spiritual elements well understood. Still, it cannot usually take much more than a duo to spin a good yarn. So then, a married team may well have spun the Garion and Sparhawk stories. Thank God.

His Opinion: The BEST Fantasy!

David Eddings is by far the best author of fantasy-fiction I have read.I love Piers Anthony also, but Eddings gives his characters such life that you almost feel as if you've met them before.would love to see more work like the Belgariad, or the Mallorean but anything by Eddings is better than just about anything else.

My One and Only

Her Opinion: The BEST Fantasy!

I think no one can say anything about David, because he's OVER every comments.

The best book in the world for me (and I've read a lot!)is and forever will be "Belgarath the sorcerer", that made me laugh and made me cry. I'd like to be as good as he is, and give other people the same emotion that he gives.

I really love him, with all my heart.

His opinion: So-So

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Eddings,

I've been a long time reader of your books. I recently just finished the one where Belgareth tell his own story. I was just curious. I've read the Belgariad, the Mall... just about all of them. Maybe my taste is changing with age. Your books were more interesting as a teenager. I'm now finding them very much redundent- although yall do a good job at it. I would like to see more use of the will and the word. For the characters to have such powers and not yet hardly ever use them is far and between. I would like to converse at greater detail if you have the time. Please email.

I Can Dream, Can't I?

Opinion: The BEST Fantasy! I started reading Eddings' books after one of my friends has been pestring me to do so. I read tehj first book to shut him up, then the second then the third....

After I finished the first ten books... I started reading Eddings in English wich isn't my mother tounge but the books are far a better in the original language. After finishing Belegarth my friend called me and said: 'There's another Eddings' world"

I fought him on that too, I never learn do I?

Eddings' stories are not only amazing because of the facinating story lines, not only because of the lovable characters, they're also unequealed because you can't put them down not matter how late at night it is or how big the math test you have tommorow is. I thought after finishing the Maloried that there's nothing Eddingds can add to the story. Then I read Belagarth and was proved wrong. I can't wait until Polgara gets here!

One last thing, I've been writing fantasy for awhile, not nearly as good, not nearly as cleaver but what I wouldn't give to someday have my book set next to 'The Seeress of Kell', what I wouldn't give to have one charicter with Barak's goul, Silk's cunning or Garion's sweetness. Maybe if I worked hard enough... maybe... well, I can dream, can't I?
