When Kari and I had happier times, she mentioned that she'd never visited my favorite city, Chicago. I love Chicago... Navy Pier, the museums, The Loop, the shows, and the best hot dogs, the best Italian beef, and the best pizza on the planet. Sure, there are places in Chicago I'd rather not be after dark, but if you know how to navigate it's a wonderful place to spend a day. Each year on St. Patrick's Day the Chicago River is dyed green and it's a huge party all day long. Kari wanted to see it, so we planned on going down for a couple days in March and I booked at room through Harrah's East Chicago.

On my first night back at APAC, two weeks after the judge said just because a woman says she's going to kill you is no reason to have a permanent restraining order held against her. (I learned through the Circuit Court Access on the Internet that I was the third person in four years to ask for such an order put in place against Kari... mental note: background checks on all future lovers), I went in an hour early to thank our Operations Manager for giving me my job back, to make sure my log-ins were set, and to see what changes had occurred in the program in my six-week absence.

It was an interesting hour. My coworkers were happy to see me back. One couple who had worked there was Corey and Sarah. Sarah left for another gig, but Corey was still there. He said Sarah was working for La Crosse Mail Center, and guess who else was there? Kari got her job back there as well. Corey said Sarah liked it the the Mail Center, but when Kari came back everyone there warned the new girl to watch her back. Nobody had liked Kari when she worked there before and nobody was happy to see her return. When she had been there (before she started at APAC), she used to offer her coworkers money to find guys for her to fuck. Kari also told everyone there on her return that she was pregnant, that she was seeing a guy who used to live in Holmen, but after knocking her up moved down south. She had no clue that Sarah would tell Corey, that they both knew she had been seeing me, and neither could believe that I would leave like that.

Once logging in, my first transaction was to cancel my St. Patty's reservation for Harrah's East Chicago.
