13 Seasons in Hell
Wednesday 30 July 2003 I am "allowed" to see my daughter once or twice a month and for two weeks each summer. Most holidays are alternated between her mom and me... even years I have her for Easter and Thanksgiving, odd years for Labor Day and Christmas. To keep some family traditions going, though, two holidays never alternate: Cathy spends each Memorial Day with her mom, each 4th of July with me. During our Independence Day holiday together last year, Cathy could see I was smitten with Kari. Eight years old at the time, she teased me when Kari wasn't around by saying, "You want to kiss her!" She was absolutely right... her perceptions are incredibly often right on the money. Kari came over to my place that evening and we all went to see fireworks on the riverfront in La Crosse. It was a good time. Later that night, though, Kari got another of her migraines, requiring another run to the hospital. Cathy was asleep when it started, and I wrapped her up in a blanket and took her with us fast asleep. Kari accompanied us on our trip to take Catherine back to her mom's house, and it was amazing how much it felt like "family." On the way back home across the state, Kari was a complete tease in the front seat of the car. After three weeks of teasing, though, we finally made love again. Her words: "Fan-flippin'-tastic! Why didn't you do it like that last time?" What can one say? There's always a certain time of discovery while you get to know another person's body... seems I discovered the right places and paces on the second try. |
