A trip to City Hall's observation deck, just under the feet of the statue of William Penn, reveals a spectacular view. City Hall complex is a large rectangle that covers 5 acres. The exterior is mainly marble from Lee, Massachusetts and granite from Maine. Underneath the surface, it is basically a brick building. 88 million bricks were used in the construction.
