Every teacher at MJDS is carefully screened for a professional dance background, depth of experience, and the ability to connect with students of all ages, from pre-school to adult, and of all levels, from beginner to pre-professional. Teachers carefully guide each student in a nuturing but challenging atmosphere to personal fulfillment and development.

Owner/Director Jessica Whittymore began studying dance at the age of three. She trained at Mount Juliet Dance Studio, The School of the Nashville Ballet, and Metro Parks Ballet. Ms. Jessica, as she is known to her students, has performed in the Nashville Ballet's Nutcracker at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, as well as at many regional and national competitions. She won many awards, including a special award at the IDC National Competition for Best Performer.

Jessica began teaching at the age of 19 and continued teaching ballet, as well as many other styles of dance, including jazz, tap, hip-hop, and modern. Recently, Jessica became a Certified Pilates Instructor and enjoys teaching at various gyms in the Nashville area.

On January 1, 2005, Jessica became the owner and main instructor at Mount Juliet Dance Studio. She has recently been selected as a choreographer for a local production of Las Vegas Meets Nashville being performed by The Review.

Jessica has also become involved with the Cecchetti Council of America and has taken her Grade One teacher certification in January 2005. Jessica passed her certification with a grade of Highly Commended, the highest possible score.
