hearty thanks goes to all the cast and crew who were so kind to me, a
stranger to your theatre.

them up quickly)
Act I
An introduction: I think this is Geniefel Sasis, who filled in as
a dancer at times, and showed up for the Capulet party. She filled in
as stage manager this night!

Words of wisdom from our narrator: Friar Lawrence, played by Robin
Abille
A brawl breaks out on the streets between the Montagues and
Capulets. The entire town turns out, and Contessa Celestina (Beth
Smith) chastises them for their fighting. (I didn't catch it on film,
but Beth yanked down those two beautiful flags). Check out the blur
of the sword in Petra's hand (Crissy Gordon). I used 400 Fujifilm in
an old shutter camera, pushed the shutter to 800 speed. Usually this
combo gives me pretty good color, but in this case I think I had old
film. It also usually eliminates the blurs you get with action and
1000 speed film, but I got a blur here anyway.
In the midst of this ill will, a party is in the works. Romeo
(Adam Palmer) and his cousin Benvolio (Kyle Mabe) intercept a servant
of the Capulets, who can't read! (let this be a warning, never cut
your English classes!) This scene is a perfect example of the
Shakespearian axiom "There are no small parts, only small actors".
Kyle and Mallory Gleason (Antonia, the servant) did great jobs with
their small "parts" and did wonderful acting jobs with their
physicality and delivery.
On the right is our first look at Juliet (Natasha Lassere),
who is getting one of those "birds and bees" talks from her Mum
(Nyasha Laners) with the help of her Nurse, played by an inspired
Karla Rivers. This photo is a prime example of "bad photography" I
was 'way too far back and it came out fuzzy when they scenned it at
fujifilm. This is the first thing Natasha has ever done on stage, and
I thought she did a great naturalistic job on it, very fitting for
Juliet. AND she kept her cool very well, memorizing a huge amount of
verse for her part. No light feat!
I thought the lighting on the top platform was a little harsh, but
isn't the set nice? It's simple and effective!
