Coldwick CampThis small hamlet in the frigid North huddles against the icy wind amongst the hills of the Wyvern Peaks. It is a sparsely populated town, with an operational copper mine and serves primarily to defend the Wyvern Pass. The poor soil and cold whether make farming very difficult and only a few sturdy crops are willing to grow here. Coldwick camp originally served as a forward outpost for expeditions into the Desolation, but is now a bedragled reminder of those past disasters. Winterness Day Festival is the most celebrated day on Coldwick Camp's calender, celebrating the middle of Winter, the shortest and coldest day of the year and a sign of the coming Spring and some poor warmth. It is celebrated by building a massive bonfire in the town square and is also and excuse for lots of eating and drinking. In recent years, this promise has enticed others to brave the cold footpaths and celebrate along with the villagers. Coldwick Camp has a population of around 1200. The largest building is the Temple to Pelor, where villagers regularly beg for warmth. It also includes a blacksmith, barracks, stable and a number of inns and taverns, the most famous of which is the Bear and Harrow. |
