Misunderstood's story probably couldn't get anymore complicated. It originally started in the summer of 99' under the direction of Jamie Ostler. The band consisted of Jamie, Andrew Snetsinger, Troy Shaver and Pat Ravery. A while into summer vacation, Geoff Clarke joined. We practiced and practiced but by the end of august could only play two cover songs and not very well. The band broke up.
Around Christmas '99, we decided to start the band back up. The only changes made were the additions of singer Kevin Bingly, guitarist Jay Caron and on Keyboards Ian Roach. After about a month Jay was kicked out and replaced, again, by Troy Shaver. Ian Roach then left the band.  He was sick of the unproductive practices The new band was sounding great. We played our first show with Three Orange Whips and Closet Monster. Everything was going great. We were schedueled to play a show in Quebec City with The Vandals and Bigwig when all of a sudden Troy and Pat quit. We were left with nothing. We tried to replace them to still play the Quebec city show but it was no use. Misunderstood was dead once again.
We went on hiatis until school finished. Once school was over we found replacements. Jeff Watters joined under the position of guitarist and Chris Wattie offered to fill in for the summer while he was at home.  We convinced Ian to come back, but to play Trombone instead. We began writing again. The band was at a creative high, we pumped out 6 songs in a months and we were set to play a show with ska legends The Kingpins. Unfortunately, like Misunderstood is notorious for, we hit another bump in the road. Kevin Bingly dropped out of the band. Jeff Watters took over the position at lead vocals and we played the show. We played two more shows and then Chris' commitment was up. It was his time to return to school. The only Misunderstood member to leave the band who actually gave us notice. The band was on another hiatis.  Luckly though, it wasn't a long one.  We went through a few drummers until we found Tony.  Also, Will Mitchell joined our band as vocals. The band got back on track.  Practices started to get very productive and we were all excited to see how well the band was doing.  There was one problem,  Jeff Waters, the guitarist, was always missing practices and showing up late.  He was slowing us down! So we made the difficult dicision to kick him out.  Geoff, our sax player,  who is also a good guitarist, took Watters' place.  We were down one horn player, but had gained a more devoted guitar player.  The band was doing great (aside from the home recording session we had, but we won't get into that).  Then, Andrew Knight, a really good trumpet player, after a little bit of nagging from us, decided to join Misunderstood?. Okay so some time goes on, and shows pass and all of a sudden our drummer Tony tells us he's quitting. So again, it's late August and we are out of a drummer. But this time there is a little bit of a reputation around the city so a few people show interest. Out of the people, we take Chris Varin. At this time, we are changing so we decide again it is time for a change. Recently Will had been playing trumpet so we ask him to move over to Trumpet full time. We then bring in Big Leauge singer Randy Hogg. And that's the story, or is it..
Come the end of January Misunderstood? ran into some problems with their drummer, Chris. It was very easily brought to the bands attention that Chris wasn't big on ska and wasn't meant to be. After the guys told him their feelings he decided to pack up his drums and leave. Within a week he was replaced by none other than Mr. Pat Ravary. So it looks like the band has gone in full swing from the beginning to the end and back again. Is that all, I doubt it...
