New Student Handbook

To begin I'd like to formally introduce myself. My name is Miss Natalya and I am the owner, operator, and webmistress of this little corner of cyberspace known as the_sanctuary. This site was created with the purpose of unifying and protecting all those who choose to write the OC (Original Character) into Degrassi fan fictions. It's often a hard road to choose, as in many places these people are harassed and belittled. From various experiences on fanfiction.net and other host sites, I have learned that while the OC is a tough and often frowned upon subject to touch on, it's also one of the most rewarding when done well. I hope to create a space where these fics can be displayed and celebrated, and their authors can join together and form what I hope can be a close-knit community. Here is just some of what the_sanctuary has to offer:

While I recognize that harsh criticism is often necessary for personal growth, I don't feel that young authors should be preyed upon as outlets of anger and frustration. If you have ever been flamed to a ridiculous degree, feel free to tell us about it. As submissions come in they will be posted in a special forum, where you can read the tales of others and share your own stories.

Any and all OC Degrassi fan fiction is a candidate for display on this site. If you have written an OC fic and wish for it to be posted, send it in. If you want it beta read, please write the word beta in the subject line of the message.

Membership, as with all frivolous and fun web clubs, is optional. You don't need to be a member to post here or have your work displayed, but if you do decide to take the plunge and label yourself an official "New Kid" you can go here to find out how it works.
