III.
TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE
CURRICULUM.
Teachers
implement curriculum plans,
that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize
student
learning. Teachers:
III-A: Facilitate
technology enhanced experiences that
address content standards and student technology standards.
Evidence/Artifact 1
Science Lesson and Power Point
Reflective Statement 1
During Internship I I I used this lesson and Power Point with my
class of third graders. This lesson includes content standards
for third grade science and for third grade technology standards.
Not only was this lesson an introduction to seeds for my class it was
and introduction to Power Points. As I added information to the
slides we not only talked about the corn and lima bean seeds but we
talk about how the slides worked. During this lesson students
also got to see the projection system at work. The projection
system had never been in their classroom so they were very interested
in it and how it worked.
Later on in the semester the students created their own slides for a
different project and I believe that this simple introduction connected
with lesson helped them with their own slide pages.
Evidence/Artifact 2
Social Studies Lesson
Reflective Statement 2
This artifact is another lesson from Internship I. For this
social studies lesson the students and I used the Internet to find out
some information about the Presidents of past and present. In the
computer lab the students were able to follow along with me and take a
virtual tour of this web site and explore some on their own. The
students were so excited about this lesson they did not want to leave
the computer lab. They enjoyed following me around on the web
site
but they really enjoyed exploring on their own, I wish we had more time
for this lesson.
This was another lesson that had content standards and computer
standards. I think integrating the two really makes the
difference. When using technology along with the other content
areas the students see how to apply technology to their work in the
future.
III-B: Use technology to support
learner centered
strategies that address the diverse needs of students
Evidence/Artifact 1
Equity Index
Reflective Statement 1
This artifact is all about the needs of diverse students. There
is a list of a variety of student needs along with links to web
resources and rubric/assessment ideas of meet the needs of diverse
students. I think this would be a great resource especially for
beginning teachers when they are struggling with what to do.
There is such a wide range of student needs covered on this web site
from physical disabilities to special needs to assessment needs.
I
would like to use this web site and it's resources to help prepare my
lessons so that I can support the needs of all my students and create a
learner centered classroom.
Evidence/Artifact 2
Casa Notes
Reflective Statement 2
This is a very unique web site. Casa Notes provides a way for
teachers to communicate with their Spanish speaking students and their
families. This web site has a list of a large variety of
notes to send home that can be created for each individual student in
Spanish or English. I think that this web site would be a great
way to reach the Spanish speaking parents in their own language so they
will feel more comfortable about their child's education. I
believe that this technology resource is not just about helping my
diverse students but also about helping their parents and
families. I wish that this web site could translate the notes in
to more languages than just Spanish, maybe someday they will add that
feature.
III-C: Apply
technology to develop students' higher
order skills and creativity
Evidence/Artifact 1
Kidspiration
Reflective Statement 1
I believe as teachers two of our main goals is to develop higher
order thinking skills and creativity of our students. Kidspiration
is a great technology resource to help fulfill these two goals. I
would like students to use this resource to start a variety of
projects. Students can use this program to help start projects,
brain storm about writing, and help connect their thoughts. In
school I was taught about webbing but this is such a cool way to
personalize your own web. Students can be creative and express
themselves through the options in Kidspiration.
Evidence/Artifact 2
Wonder Web
Computer
Basesd/Classroom Based
Reflective Statement 2
During my Technology in Education class we used a Wonder Web and were
assigned to start one in our Internship I classroom. The computer
based
artifact is a link to the Wonder Web we used for my education
class. When had to develop a higher order thinking question and
answer a question of one of our classmates. This Wonder Web can
also be set up in a classroom setting where students can type in their
questions and respond to their classmates. This provides a great
way to express your thoughts and use higher order thinking skills to
provide helpful answers to fellow classmates.
For the classroom based Wonder Web I put together a bulletin board
where the students could share their questions and answers. The
questions could be related to any thing we were studying in class but
they had to be more than a yes or no question. The students
really enjoyed communicating with each other this way.
III-D: Manage
student learning activities in a
technology enhanced environment
Evidence/Artifact 1
Evlautech
Reflective Statement 1
When managing my students learning activities I want to evaluate the
instructional resources that I use. Through this technology
resources, Evlautech, I will be able to find reviews on instructional
resources. This web site is made available partially through the
state of North Carolina. Evalutech would be so useful in many
different ways. I would like to use it to evaluate student
learning activities as I choose new materials to use in my
classroom. It would also be good when the school is looking for
new text books and other materials to buy for the school. I feel
that this is a reliable technology resource because it is provided by
the state and the Southern Regional Education Broad. I would like
to share this web site with my fellow teachers and administration so
that
we can all manage student learning activities through evaluating their
usefulness.
Evidence/Artifact 2
Cyber Smart
Reflective Statement 2
Cyber Smart is a great artifact for managing student learning in an
technology enhanced environment. There are so many features
offered on this web site for teachers and students. The web site
has lesson plans, internet tips, internet safety, printable
posters, and professional development all related to educating
students in a world filled with technology. With help from Cyber
Smart I can educate my students about how to use technology along with
manage their learning. The features are categorized by grade
level
and can be connected to the standards of your state. I think that
using some of the features of this artifact I could manage the
activities of my students, especially when they are working
independently with technology.
