It isnt long before Ed Wheeler slips on the master chef hat, and the delectable aromas waft across the patio tantalizing all who are there. Before long John Meeks the Spin Master, has the music set up. The sounds of past and present fill the air as one an all are toe tapping, head bopping, and singing along to the rock tunes. In the meantime Ed was trying to keep up with the ever demanding wheres the beef? Though at times the demand was great our very own chef managed, with great effort, to finally get everyone fed! Though I think one could tell poor Ed would be going home to take a very long cool shower after the hours of standing over a hot grill. Great job Ed!! We thank you for volunteering to be the BBQ griller, and for putting up with the demands of the wild bunch known as Phi Theta Kappans.
There were many chapters in attendance, which included Kappa Tau Chapter [Longview Community College], Upsilon Kappa Chapter [Penn Valley Community College], Alpha Pi Sigma Chapter [Blue River Community College], Upsilon Xi Chapter [Maple Woods Community College], the Missouri Regional Officers were present and their chapters were, Kappa Tau Chapter (Lois Robbins VP of Communication & Kim Jarquio VP of Phi District), Chi Delta Chapter [East Central College] (Amber Gruenloh President), Alpha Tau Chapter [Moberly Area Community College] (Karen Heywood VP of Kappa District & Ann Parks Missouri Regional Coordinator).
There was a sign-in sheet there, so if you or your chapter was missed, please let us know and we will add you to the list of attendees. A few of the Kappa Tau officers stated that we had well over 50 guests, but the list only reflects 37. Here is the names was given to me: Kay Thomas along with James and Jennifer her guests, Ashley Jacobs, Anh Tai Hastings and her guests Barry & Danh, Ed Wheeler, Sandra Diehl, Nicole Hale and her guests Kelly & Pamela Hall, Kilee Hawkins, Kim Jarquio and her guest Todd, Megan McCraw, Elise West (Beckham), Kim Wilcox, John Meeks, Lois Robbins, Sean Willis, Alan Hall, Annie Wills, Ann Parks, Amber Gruenloh, Karen Heywood, Sarah Eiker and her guests Reace Eiker, Richard Eiker, Kevin McCoy, Zack Smith, Kim Wilcox (Advisor), & Mark Holdcraft, Peggy Crowell with her guests Tara and Jasper, Cynthia Alexander and Courtney Hockman with her sons Jay and Josiah.
Then it was game time, and Penn Valley provided some get to know each other games, which brought on a great deal of merriment for both the participants and the audience. Sarah Eiker and their Advisor asked three volunteers a question about, say what is your favorite color, and give it three adjectives to describe it? The volunteers would go away for a few minutes while the question was explained to the audience. Some of the unconscious associations we place on things such as color, water, and so forth have some very interesting, and amusing results.
So once again the picnic fairies cast their magic over the day, and in the end once more delivered those the sweet memories that would last for a long time to come. Everyone left with full tummies, smiles lurking around the corners of their mouths, bodies and hearts filled with the warmth of sunshine, of new friendships forged and old ones renewed. Over all I would have to say it was a most successful day!! |
