In the future world that may or may not be, past wars and nuclear contaminations have rendered half the earth inhabitable, this part is then called SODOM and what was left of the earth, is called NEW CANAAN. New Canaan Humankind still multiplied continuously and what little left of habitable earth cannot accommodate all of them. Therefore only "passable" human that can be useful and contribute to society are allowed to live in New Canaan. All newborn babies in New Canaan are brought straight away for inspections, their type and serial number are branded on their left shoulder blade, and afterwards they are taken to the respective institutions: There are the types: A-type: The flawless ones, the only type that is allowed to live in heart of New Canaan. D-type: for Defects, People who have some sort of deficiency but can still take care of themselves. They live in the borders of New Canaan R-type: for Reject. People too invalid to take care of themselves. E.g.: Seniors, autistic, the mentally unstable ect� Human morale do not allow them to be killed, however it is too much hassle to take care of them, so they are put into coma-like state, living inside life-support machines. O-type: For Outlaws. Runaway criminals usually fit into this category, also people who for some reason left New Canaan to live in Sodom. P-type: For Pariahs. They are called Pariahs because they don't have they serial numbers branded on their backs. These are children borne by settlers in Sodom. There are no official records on them, and therefore they are considered nonexistent. Since they are unregistered, they are forbidden to enter Canaan forever. Sodom: Sodom is a barren land consisted of desserts, polluted oceans, occasional prairies, and heaps of contaminated trash dumped from New Canaan. Eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and fingertips have to be covered at all times. Surface water is undrinkable and surface lands are unworkable. Yet there are living creatures: mutated animals and plants, and even some human settlers living in underground cities. For food, they drink rain water and tapped underground water, and they breed animals in underground farms. Some are runaway criminals, others are, for freedom or some other reasons, decided to live in Sodom. There are also children borne underground. However, by living there, their life spans have shortened considerably. No one in Sodom ever life to exceed 40. There is, however, another world, unknown to most people because the government had got rid of their records (or so they thought) EDEN: Eden is a hydrocraft, floating somewhere above western seas. Living in it are CHERUBS, or as some people call them, EDEN'S CHILDREN. Some time ago, no one knows exactly when, a wave of new disease wiped out nearly one-third of humankind. The reason is unknown, but there is a theory that it is nature's way to eliminate the weaks when a species is overbreeding. Then by mutation or maybe evolution, babies was born with the natural serum for the disease in their blood. With their blood, human were successful in stopping the disease wave. However, it soon becomes clear that these babies are actually a superior, evolved race of humankind. They are superior in every ways; power, endurance, life span, intelligence� everything. In fear, scientists tried to keep them in coma-like states in glass tubes, but one Cherub escaped and nearly destroyed the whole city before it was restrained. In fear, human created Eden as a separate world for Cherubs, thus they forever become Eden's Children |
