Steps to Ensure that All Students Have Equal Access to Technology
- Take entire class to computer lab at least once a week.
- Develop a rotating schedule to decide who can use the computers in our classroom during free time.
- Call on
all students to come to work with the Active Board. This can be
done by using a "fair jar" or by using an activity on the Active Board
in a center rotation.
- Allow all students to update different parts of our classroom website.
- Each week
assign a digital camera to a different child. They can be
required to make a PowerPoint presenation about some aspect of their
life and include the pictures they have taken.
- Work
closely with students to determine who has lots of computer experience
and who does not. The students who do not have a computer at home
may need more instruction and practice than their computer savvy
counterparts. These students should get extra time on the
computer, as they cannot work on projects or papers at home.
