Slough Feg/ Solstice/ Dreaming live in Zblitz July 29 2000
Review bei Mrk Hegeds/ Psychedelic Fanzine
At ca. 8 o clock, both headliners, Solstice and Slough Feg did some short
soundcheck and then at 9 p.m. DREAMING started the evening with a very solid
set. Mindblowing riffs from Sandro and slow, humbling themes were the
trademarks of their concert, which included most of the songs from their
debut album (inclusive the genius Pink Floyd cover Mathilda Mother) and
they even performed a song from the demo. The band played at the end
Mindfood, the St. Vitus cover and it was a good finish of their cool set.
I was a little surprised by the reserved fans, who werent dancing and
moving, its something unusual for me, knowing that the band played near
their home town, ZschopauAlthough this, Dreaming are a band with a bright
future !

SOLSTICE played a bombastic, energetic concert, like 5-6 songs in 50
minutes. Epic oriented metal songs with doom touches should you imagine, if
you arent familiar with this fine English band. The gods of Albion
performed their songs a lot heavier and more powerful than on the records;
the set included songs like The sleeping tyrant, Cimmerian Codex, To
ride with tyr and even a new song (very epic !) as a taster from the
upcoming Domeculte EP. The vocalist proved his talent, as he sang in album
quality, the fine epic solos of the two guitarists made my body move : the
Solstice hymns set me in extase. An excellent band with a fabulous set.

SLOUGH FEG impressed me totally, although I heard live mostly songs from the
new album, which I wasnt familiar with at that time. Since then I have got
hold of their new record and it exhibits the same high quality : the well
written, galloping guitar structures make them different from other bands.
The band played very dynamic, precise and with Mikes folkish like singing;
his vocals and guitar solos are the two most important points, why I did
enjoy from their performance a lot.

To sum up : Im sure the ca. 100 visitors were happy to see these two (or
three) bands live, making us this evening unforgettable for our whole life.
Cheers to Thomas and Sandro and the other guys/girls from Zschopau for the
care on this funny, doomed weekend.
