Isolation

The weeks seemed endless, a repeated round of fleeting days and long nights - dark hours which brought not rest and healing, but self-recrimination and aching loneliness. Bereft for the first time of the constant succoring touch of another mind and spirit, Elladan stumbled through days in the healing hall and nights of supposed revelry with the same frozen countenance.

Beyond the steep valley walls, another lay awake each night in the wilds of Eriador, his reverie spoiled by the memory of anguish-filled grey eyes, his chest aching with a pain he was only beginning to understand, his soul calling for that which he strove to deny. At last he could bear no more, turning from his companions to retrace his steps, and perhaps regain his peace.

Elrohir was going home.
