London 2000

In July and August of 2000 my dear
friend Marina from Montreal
was working in London an internship. In no way could I let such an opportunity
pass me by. London here we come! I got the cheapest airfares possible
for only $273.00 RT (no need to get jealous), and Anastasia and I were
on our way. (Marina and I in front of Buckingham Palace) |

This was our first time in London and it impressed is as royal, crazy, fast, as well as remarkably friendly and clean. The weather was not bad at all! Well truthfully we could not tell, as for the most we spent our days in the museums. Amazing collections, immense art and historic pieces from all over the world. Madame Tussaud's waxworks were incredible and look so alive that often we were confusing live people, who were just standing still for a second or two, for wax figures. Harrods sales were out of our price range, but it was nice to hold an almost flawless 3 carat diamond ($200,000.00) and say: "I have to think about this one. I might find something better in Brussels." |

Of course I had to visit 221B Baker Street. Can any one tell me who lived there? I didn't know myself, my dear old friend Alex had to remind me. Thank you, Alex. I would've missed this opportunity. | ![]() |

In Hyde Park at the Speakers'
Corner by Marble Arch (where on Sundays anybody with a bee in his bonnet
has the freedom to let it buzz) I got into a heated discussion with a
religious fanatics about the purpose of life. Enlightenment didn't not
occur, but I got a smashing conversation and a splendid logic exercise.
Our final day in London
happened to be the 100th birthday of The Queen's Mother. We saw the entire
royal family at the Buckingham Palace balcony.
