We found out in Dec of 1998 that we were expecting our second child. My pregnancy progressed normaLly until on March 10, 1999, I had a routine Doctor's appt and we could not find the baby's heartbeat. I was sent immediately to the hospital to have a sonogram done. It confirmed that our baby had died. I went home in utter shock. My husband came straight home not knowing why I had called him at work, but he knew something must have been wrong. He came into me and I said, "The baby died."
We went to the hospital early March 12, 1999, for my induction. Finally, at 10:12 pm our baby was born. They took our Baby immedately from the room. One of the nurses came in and said you had a little boy. I was shocked! I was sure that he was going to be a girl. My doctor then informed me the reason he died was from a true (double) knot in his cord.
We asked to see our son so the nurse brought him in to us. He was so tiny, but much bigger than I had expected him to be. I touched his little hands and feet. I was afraid I would break him if I touched him too much. We had no names, but after much consideration I wanted to name him after my husband, Benjamin Joel. . |
