Free Car Show at Huntington Beach

Adams Ave. Donuts & Cobra

Magnolia & Adams, Huntington Beach

In November 29, 1999 issue of AutoWeek, I saw an article titled "Doin' Donuts" which was about a gathering of car enthusiasts every Saturday morning in front of a Donut shop in Huntington Beach, California. My brother and I decided to check the place out one January Saturday morning. As we approached the strip mall at Magnolia & Adams around 8:00am, we saw several '30s-'50s hot rods on the road, as some were leaving already while others were still arriving.

There were cars of many different types, from a Mini, Jensen CV-8, Porsche 550 Spyder, to a vintage Indian Motorcycle. However, majority of the cars in the parking lot were hot rods or muscle cars like 1955-57 Chevrolet Bel Airs, and Model A Fords. Some of these cars were show quality, with superb detailing inside and out. What's really cool is that most of the cars were not on trailers - instead, they were driven to and from this gathering, the way collector cars are supposed to be enjoyed.
