My Recent Trip to France and Germany

continued

I stayed two nights in Frankfurt, and drove to Stuttgart and Heidelberg on Christmas Eve, then drove to Cologne and Bonn on Christmas Day. Although I found the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart and the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen, they were both closed for the holidays. I knew the location of the Mercedes Museum ahead of time, but I had no clue where the Porsche Museum was - I found it by accident while I was lost in Zuffenhausen. I didn't do any driving in Paris.

Mercedes A-class display on Champs-Elyses, Paris, France

The Mercedes A-class is not available in the United States, I believe.
It's a four seater the size between the Smart and the C-class. This
display on the Champs-Elyses was celebrating Christmas (Joyeuses
Ftes) and Mika Hakkinen/McLaren's Formula One Championship,
which of course used a Mercedes engine. This A-class is gift wrapped,
but how come I didn't get to take it home??

Fiat 500 in Front of the Mercedes Museum

The sign "Wir nehmen auch Ihren Gebrauchten in Zahlung" translates
roughly to "You can trade-in your used one," I believe. This is the area
where a bus would take visitors to the Mercedes Museum. The Mercedes
Museum "could not be easier to find" according to the Mercedes pamphlet,
in typical nonchalant German haughtiness. I do agree that it's extremely
easy to find - just follow the signs to Stuttgart's main football (soccer)
stadium. It's right next door.

Lowered and Sporty VW Vanagon

This VW Vanagon was lowered, and had sport wheels. Check out the
airbrush work on the side panel. Pretty cool, huh? I spotted this van
next to the police station at the Frankfurt train station.
