Its Thursday afternoon, I just got home from classes, sad over the past few days events,
I sluggishly continue with my daily routine. Walk the dogs, check phone messages and then I
head out to check the mail. It is then I look down on my porch and I see "the box". It
instantly brings a smile to my face, because I already have a feeling I know who its from.
Excited, I eagerly bring the box inside and open it. Of course my 2-year-old daughter
is excited to jumping around yelling, "YEAH!!!". And then, there they are 5 beautiful hand
quilted binkies. The colors and designs are amazing. They are children's dream blankets!
They are covered with bunny rabbits, teddy bears, ducks, and sheep!
Why you ask, does receiving these blankets brighten my day so much? You see I have
never met these woderful ladies of the Berlin Countryside Chapel. But every few months
I receive a special package on my doorstep with beautiful blankets that are quilted by hand
and made with lots of love and caring. And within each package always lies a special note.
This package contained this note:

We're so glad you let us grandmas help in a
small way to bring some pleasure into the lives of
hurting children.

I would like to extend a very special thank you to Phyllis Miller and the ladies of the
Berlin Countryside Chapel for touching the lives of so many people including the children who
receive your binkies and of course, myself. Our local chapter is that much more special

On Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday the 23rd we will be participating in the Minerva
Gold Festival located in downtown Minerva. We are looking for volunteers to help with
this event. We will be hosting a raffle for adults and the color a quilt activity for
children. The hours are as follows:
Saturday: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday: 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Brandy or Betty for more information.

As many of you already know each binky has a Binky Patrol logo sewn into it's corner before
it is delivered. This is often what we do at our monthly meetings.
In an effort to speed up the delivery process, I will be mailing labels to those volunteers
I receive blankets from regularly. If you would please sew the label onto the corners of
your blankets, it would be greatly appreciated.
