GREAT WALL TREK TRIBUTE TO DAD

11:00 - 27 March 2006

Fitness instructor Lynn Squire has taken on an international challenge in memory of her father David who died of cancer ten years ago and in celebration of her mother's recovery after successful breast cancer treatment three years ago.

The South Devon instructor has organised a series of fitness events to raise money for Cancer Research UK, raising awareness of the importance of keeping fit at the same time.

Lynn said: "I will be trekking a stretch of the Great Wall of China in May next year and need to raise 4,000 before I go. I am hoping that people will support this very important charity by donating money to the fund or joining in with some of the events planned.

"I am launching my fund-raising at Decoy School, Newton Abbot, where I teach adults fitness classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

"On Thursday April 20 I will be teaching three hours of fitness and am inviting people to collect sponsorship to come and join in one, two or three hours of fun and exercise. The sessions will start with a dance type aerobics class followed by a body conditioning Flexercise class and finishing with a freestyle fitness yoga and Pilates class.

"The headmaster at Decoy School, Len Peach, has generously donated the use of the school hall for the evening.

"It's ten years since my father died and I wanted to do something to raise money for Cancer Research because the death rate from cancer has fallen by 12 per cent over that decade, and now seven out of 10 children with cancer can be cured."

Anyone wishing to get fit and help raise vital money for Cancer Research UK can collect a sponsorship form from Lynn at Decoy School on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, or phone 01803 201314.
