| Minah's Writing Rules 1. DO NOT plagiarize! A plagiarized paper = F 2. Type on A4 paper. Use 11 or 12 font, Times New Roman. 3. Write in paragraph form. 4. Check your writing format! For example: It should NOT be this: Today I went to school. I saw my friends. We went for lunch. We talked about what we did during summer vacation. It should be: Today I went to school. I saw my friends and we went for lunch. We talked about what we did during summer vacation. 5. Indent (leave 5 spaces) at the beginning of each paragraph. 6. Remember to put your name, English nickname, student number and class. 7. Don�t forget a title. 8. Do not end a sentence with � unless it is a creative story. 9. Avoid using cute characters such as ^^; T T; or *^^*. It is cute but not for a school paper. 10. Edit your essay � check for spelling errors, grammar errors and proper use of punctuation. 11. Do not write letters to me on the paper. Either talk to me or write me a separate note. |
| Minah's Tips for Writing 1. Write clear and simple sentences to express your meaning. 2. Focus on the main idea of your essay. 3. Use a dictionary to help you find additional words to express your meaning. 4. Try not using the same vocabulary words over and over again. Use a thesaurus to help you. 5. The introduction should contain the thesis statement and give some background information. 6. Develop each supporting paragraph such as giving examples or facts. 7. Revise your essay � reorganize your ideas and omit any unnecessary sentences. 8. ALWAYS reread your essay BEFORE handing it in. |
