Freshman Year At Edison

Beening a freshman... man who would of ever thought that I will be sitting here writing about my freshman year. Almost everybody who comes out of junoir high school thinks that high school is going to be fun. Well most of the time it's true but at other time people are so wrong. Let me tell you all out there who is reading this, when you think of high school just make sure you think of a lot of work. Let me tell you...

From the time I walked through the door to the caferteria, knew it was going to be hard. It had a lot of kids their, most of them I didn't know. I saw some of my old friends from my old scholl and chilled with them until it was time to go to the checkout room. When the bell rang all the kids went to their checkout, when I got there I felt pretty weird. I was surrounded by kids I never saw in my lifeand a teaher that I nver saw. When we got our new program card I just knew these classes were going to be tough. When the bell rang we were off to see our new teahers. When I saw all my teachers and look at the contracts they gave us I knew I was going to be committed to do work. I notice that every clas I went into there were different kids in each one, unlike junoir high where you go to yur teahers with your homeroom class.

Monday morning had came, as I was walking up those steps I wonder what kind of people was going to be in my classes. When I got to my first period class it was pretty cool until I got homework, I said to myself "homework already". The day was almost done and I had homework from about four of my classes, it wasn't to bad until the next week. Getting up early every morning to me was not worth it to get to school and do all this work. When I got home every day I spent most of my time doing homework. It has been a couple months into the school year and "man" it was stressful, especially getting projects. I'll tell you those projects kill me, when you have one due and yet all these teacher are giving you homework it is so hard to get one done. And when you get to school the next morning the classes are so dead, because there is nobody who likes to make trouble. You guess right, no class clowns! I never was in a class without a class clown. Those classes are just boring without them, I see it like this when there is a class clown the class will be fun almost everyday.

When basketball try outs had came I started feeling a little better about the school. I love to play ball I've been playing ever since I was seven years old. One day during basketball try outs I went up to the track coach and ask him if he knew my brother his answer was yes. Then I said, oh am his little brother, the coach knew that my brother was a good runner so he asked me if I could run as good as my brother. Not trying to look big or anything I said yes, then he asked me when could he see me out on the track. I said soon because I still had to try out for the basketball team, the next day ran for him and he said, good stuff Mills hope to see you again it was fun running because I ran well and better than those other kids. Basketball tryouts was still on but track was becoming more involve in my after school schedule, I ran the cross country season and we brought home the cross-country freshman championship. At this time I started to get a love for the sport and basketball was still there but I had more fun running even thought practicing was harder. Through basketball and track I got to know a lot of the kids that went to Edison, during the indoor running season I won a couple of medals. I didnt play ball for that season but I was thinking about playing for the next, from running alone I was having a lot of fun.

During those few months of school at first I thought it was pretty hard but when you start to settle down it's all good. Like earlier in the year when I got to Edison after a few weeks I wanted to transfer out to Hillcrest or John Bowne high school. After a lot of thinking and talking to my mom I realize I should give the school a chance. When I was loaded with work and had no chance of watching T.V at night it made me kind of mad. Then one day I said to my self that am just going to do the work and not complain. Well of course that was to my advantage because when I did my work I got better grades. Now coming to the end of the year its good knowing that your not failing any classes and you was not cut from any of the school teams. Knowing that am use to the work and what is expected at Edison hight school I don't think am going to transfer out anymore. Right now I have three more days of school and I fell good knowing that I haven't got a summer school letter and but then again school is not over. So I guess sometimes during your years of school times are tough but if you relax and just go along with the program everthing will be okay.

Well now my freshman days will be over in a couple of weeks and yes! I made it through another school year. Next year I will be a 10th grader and I could just remember when I was in the 6th grade. Like people say time waits on no one you just have to go along with the program and try not to get left behind. I would say that I had a pretty good freshman year at Edison, don't get me wrong it could of been better but all things work together for good. This will probably be the last time that I write about my freashman but I know that will talk about it in my future years....all you guys who read this I'll check you guys next year. peace out!!!!
