The M1917A1 was designated as a Heavy Machine Gun for a very good reason, because it was heavy! It was not a weapon easily used in combat. The weight of the weapon and since it was water cooled made it an excellent defensive weapon.

The 75mm reckless gave infantry much the same power as if a couple of men were carrying around a German .88. It could take out different things at 400 yards, it could destroy pillbox or cave positions, and it could act as defensive or offensive artillery support.

The 3.5 bazooka out did the 57mm reckless, by providing about the same power and effectiveness in a lighter package. Together with the 75 mm reckless, the infantry were provided with a deadly effective combination against any enemy that might come at them on the ground

The M1 Garand was the weapon of choice for infantry. The M1 Carbine, half the weight and with a less powerful cartridge, was the weapon of choice for support troops, and others not primarily involved in infantry combat. It was designed to meet combat needs less demanding than the M1 Rifle, but more than can be met by the M1911A1 pistol. It was more convenient to use than the M1, and less in the way to their other duties, while still much more effective than hand guns.

The M2 .50 caliber machine gun is still standard issue today. Made by Mr. Browning's, this magnificent weapon may see its 100th birthday pretty soon and is the military is still using this weapon today

The Motar is a very powerful weapon that was used in World War II. It was hard to always carry around because of its weight but it was one of the favorites to the soldiers because it was powerful and simple to use. All that you have to do is put in the 4 pound bomb, and then fire. The motar would from there shoot thousands of yards.
Officers, non-coms, and certain enlisted specialists carry a Colt .45 pistol. The standard side-arm of American soldiers from the early 1900s through Desert Storm, the Colt 45 (M1911 / M1911A1). is still the handgun choice of many soldiers. The effective range is about 50 yards. They are typically semi-automatics with a seven round magazine plus one in the chamber.

The high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rockets are capable of going through heavy armor. To hit a  sliding target the target is by means of a reflecting site mounted on the launcher. A magneto-type firing device in the trigger grip provide the current for igniting the rockets.
The Thompson submachine gun was a lot of people�s weapon of choice. It is popularly called a Tommy gun. Fully automatic, the Thompson is an all-round field weapon of .45 caliber. It weighs 12.5 pounds when fully loaded with a 30-round magazine and is 33 inches long. The Thompson fires between 600 and 700 rounds per minute.
