Effects- The weapons produced during the Second World War have changed current warefare. For example, the atomic bomb launched the US into a cold war with Russia shortly after the war ended, bringing with it a whole other level of destruction. The effects of this devastating weapon destroyed thousands of people, and to this day still puts whole countries into danger.
Planes also played a significant role in the course of history. It were these that brought the US into the war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor from the air. This shows that amazing advances had been made in air warfare, since the first flight had only been about 20 years earlier. Also, Germany's Luft Waffe project pushed the aeronautical limits of the time. Guns also progressed through this time period. During World War II ground attackes happened frequently, inluding the D-Day attack on Normandy, France, and the island raids in the South Pacific.
All of this is evidence that although weapons have expanded technological limits, it also ruined thousands of lives and brought sadness across the world that should be remembered. |
