Well, when Kiss reformed and toured in the Make up once again it was Must see TV! Along with going to see them was our mission to meet the band. Little did we know this was gonna be a lot harder than first expected. Of course we knew where they were staying, it�s standard with me and Anthony, you just hear things and know people. So we went to the hotel. There was a fuckin swarm of people there, some freaks, there was a guy there who�d taken the top of his Kiss pinball machine out and brought that with him to get signed. He already had Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer on it from their 95 tour. So we play the waiting game, then I decided the waiting game sucked so we played Hungry Hungry Hippos. It was a long few days of Kiss waiting, it was actually a riot, we got to play �Follow that Car!� which I actually got to say a few times, that was fun!! Now let me just state for the record that this is not stalking. So we followed the cars saw them get in and out of these aforementioned cars, that was exciting. They weren�t being sociable at all, we put this down to the fact that Kiss actually sell their autographs through their Kisstory book. So why sign for free when you can buy it huh?! We had a ball though, it�s such a rush just seeing these guys, you meet some great people there and just have a good yarn for a few days. Don�t get me wrong, we do go home and come back, there�s no camping involved. One night back at the hotel, while milling out the front we saw the coolest thing. Let me set it up. Down here in Australia bands don�t tour that often, but when they do they all like to come at once. This was one instance of that. As we looked into the Foyer of the Hotel Como, there is Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams and Paul Stanley! OK seriously, remember that thing that happened with Bill Clinton and those 2 other dudes shaking hands?! That peace thing, I forgot their names. Well this was like that, here�s Springo and the Admeister siting across from each other with Starchild standing behind them, it was awesome! Well you kinda had to be there! So anyway, the Kiss gig was MAGIC! What a show, man they can still do it, and it was good to hear Beth, even though they dragged her off stage and let Peter Criss sing the song �Beth� that was much better. I was all pyro�d out after the gig, man I�ll never forget that! The most we got over the few days was a few waves and stuff, who knew that 5 years later I�d bump into Gene backstage at a Hall and Oates show?! Needless to say there were a lot of disappointed fans, but you�ve gotta expect that, they really don�t have to come out. It�s just a bonus when they do. There was one dude though who through MMM Fm radio, got to go meet them cause he wanted them to sign his arm and get it tattooed on. So he got it! What a moron, what if he regrets it in years to come!! |
