The De La Salle School provides a quality education for at risk boys from economically disadvantaged situations.  The school’s mission incorporates an emphasis on respect, responsibility, and service thereby preparing the young men to be caring citizens of the world.  The school is a not for profit, private, tuition free school.

THE RIDE

Miles of Museums was developed to augment the scholarship fund for the students in The De La Salle School.  Museums on the south shore of Long Island are easily accessible from Sunrise Highway or Merrick Road. The rides showcase these museums.  Two of the three rides available are flat and less than 30 miles round trip. One ½ century ride is offered to accommodate the more seasoned rider.   During the ride sag wagons courtesy of Brands Cycle & Fitness will assist riders and Police escort will be available during the ride.

The Museums Along Our Route

1.. Wantagh Historical and Preservation Society & Museum. - Victorian styled house on the National Register of Historic Place. Offered as the10 mile round trip ride. Starts at 9am.

2.Lauder Museum - Located in Amityville the museum main focus is local history. Exhibits feature 1880's Victorian Parlor, the impact of the Great South Bay, decoys and photos. The  Historical Society of the Massapequas and the Wantagh Historical and Preservation Society & Museum is included in this ride as well. Offered as the 20 mile round trip. Starts at 9am.

3. Islip Art Museum is the leading exhibition space for contemporary art on Long Island. The Museum presents five exhibitions a year in its main galleries. Exhibitions are organized to reflect issues and concerns in the current art world. Offered as the 50 miles round trip. Starts at 8am.
