Classic triathlon includes events:
Triathlon consists of three different events. Two of them conduct one for the other. They situated in the wood or park. Starting event is "Country Cross". Price of 1 second is 10 points. Distance is 1.5 km for men and 1 km for women, boys and girls. This four groups of people compete separately.
Exist more easy variant, where Country Cross is replaced by 100 m Run, during which the dog must run to the left side of a handler in a zone of radius three meters. Shooting is united with Forehead Attack. To my mind if we want to make things easier, better way is to terminate first two events. Course of Obstacles is the heart of this competition. It's capable to be the separate kind of sports with dogs.
At the middle of the distance handler must to fix his dog in the square-wave sector.
Handler takes pneumatic pistol in his hands and tries to shoot the target.
Then handler fastens dog to his belt with a leash and continues run already with towing.
You can see, that different constructions of the "belt" were used in purpose to make pulling more easy and effective.
Immediately after finish handler unfastens dog and begins second event. I don't now how to translate the name of this event correctly. Something like "Courage Test". A dog must run up to helper and bite him. Helper also attacks the dog, tries to dispel him. Similar exercise is included into IPO or SCH programs. I think, that we can terminate this exercise from the program.
Third event "Course With Obstacles" situated at the stadium, usually is carried out another day. It's the most interesting event. I think that this event is capable to be separate and thrilling kind of sports with dogs. This event includes crawling and 6 other obstacles, but no belts, no leash! It's slightly similar to agility with one course forever, huge distance between obstacles and overtaking obstacles by both dog and handler. Speed of best handlers was a little less than 5 m/sec (300 m with time 1 min 1 sec) and the dog run a little bit faster - time stopped with the finish of handler. Distance is 300 m. Price of one second is 30 points. Every obstacle has it's own top level of penalty. According to rules, the handler wasn't able to outstrip a dog at the moment of overcoming an obstacle.
This is start. First obstacle is simple jump, imported from track and fields.
The second obctacle is a wall, 1 m 80 cm height. Maximal penalty is 50 points. I think, it's asking us: "Replace me by A-Frame, please". This obstacle is dangerous. We can peplace it by A-Frame. With contacts, or no, isn't "the question of the day".
The third obstacle is ladder. Maximal penalty is 100 points. Interesting obstacle to train, but not comfortable to transport (it's height is 3 m!).
The fourth obstacle is sector to throw granads in the target. The dog must be fixed before the line of throwing. Maximum penalty is 250 points. You have three attempts to hit the target. Target is circle of meter radius. Distance is 25 m for men and 15 m for women and young boys. Fine exercise, when you need to balance between time and accuracy, also fix your dog tactically right... But if throwing of granads isn't known well among West folks (in the USSR every schoolboy had this skill!), then it could be easy replaced by darts or pneumatic pistol! If we terminate first two events, shooting will be nice here.
Next exercise has maximal penalty 400 points! It is 40% of maximal penalty for all course. You understand, that it is the heart of this system. This is crawling. It was that place, where runners failed. It is the place, where wery specific human skill, fitness and dog training are needed. It's a 10 m long zone. To be strong you must crawl with your dog 10 m faster, then 10 sec. And quickly prepare to crawling! Handler must touch the ground by his chest, the dog - chest, or elbow. Every loss of contact - penalty, equal to one second.
Last two obstacles were easy for skil dogs and their handlers. Double table is simple without special training. Though, dogwalk is very narrow if compare with agility. It is not essentually, the rules can be changed. This run: 120 m from crawling to finish was very fast and real test for handler's special stamina: they run AFTER CRAWLING!

I create this page in hope, that somebody, who love both running and dogs will become interst in it. Will try it. Will love it. Will promote it. I think, that idea of course, where handler and the dog works together is a great idea.
Triathlon (or simply Course of Obstacles) is a most interesting and unique kind of activity with dogs. Very similar is the variant of triathlon with 100 m run instead of Country Cross. In this group is also Pentathlon. It's very close with Triathlon, but includes two events without dogs: swimming and shooting.
I don't think, that Pentathlon can survive... But Triathlon, or Course of Obstacles can!

Pulling of the skier. This isn't ski-joring. Skier hasn't arm sticks and (due to the rules) is able to run only on turns. Overcoming the straight lines, skier must to stand without moving, allows the dog to pul himself. It's kind of sport for dog owners, not for professional skiers. Is carried out at the stadium. Distance from 800 to 1500 m.
Pulling of the skier with obstacles (shooting, throwing granads in the target and so on). Stadium 800 m.
Pulling of the sledge by two dogs. 5 km.
General Program of Dog Training (in Russian "OKD"). Is a fragment of basic obedience. Unfortunately, traditions are so, that the judge don't pay a lot of attention to the dog's quickness and drive. So, I think, that this kind of competitions, very popular in Moscow, not only make unpopular international Obedience and IPO. It's much worse, that dog trainers get used to work with slow dogs. Slow by nature, and slow by training...
Protective Guardian Program (in Russian "ZKS"). It's easy program, is applied together with OKD. During competitions, champions are determined in three nominations: OKD, ZKS and the Absolute sum.
Other. There are several other not so popular programs. Such as: Trace, Guard (on the chain), connection, some geological programs, help in disaster programs and so on. They are official or special (army, police, etc.).
