Chapter 5
Nedless to say, Mikol's campanions where more then slightly confused.
"Would you mind translating that into English?"
          "I saw my mother."
"Great that just clears it all up." Tech's voice was getting more and more sarcastic as the conversation went on. "You faint to the floor, stay there for five seconds, wake up and start spouting nonesense about talking with your mom." Mikol looked over at Chan.
"Five seconds? Was I only out for that amount of time?"
"Yes, why?" Mikol proceded to tell the two of them about his conversation.
          "Wow, so what's the plan?"
"We must get out of here. Now, there are two armed guards outside our front door. Eventhough there are three of us there is one thing we have to keep in mind, they have the guns." Chan gave a little chuckle. The two guys looked at her.
          "What is so funny?"
"We have a small advantage in that area. You know when they scaned me? Well let's just say that it wasn't to thurough." She gave a devious smile as she pulled a blater out of her boot.
"Chan, what did I ever do without you?"
"There's more where that came from." She continued to remove her extra carbines and her combat knife. Tech was not that impressed.
"Good for you Chan but I still don't think that three kids and one blaster can take out two armed guards that have been trained for these kinds of situations."
"You're right, we need to think of another way out of this place."
"Well they should have a emergancy exit, these are the admrils quarters after all. Look around and see what ou can find. "Not long after Tech found a small hatch just above floor level behind a mirror in what he had claimed as his room. There was just one probleme. The power to the control pad had been cut. The door was shut air tight and was set into the wall in a way so that it had no edges or corners to grip onto. They couldn't force it open.
"So how are we going to get it open?" It was Tech that answered this time.
"Chan, I need your knife and one of your carbines." She looked at him doubtfully.
"This is my favorit knife. I made it myself. It is perfectly blanced and extreamy strong. If you manage to break it in anyway, I promis you that whatever is left will find out what you look like on the inside." Tech smiled as she handed him the items.
"I don't think that will be nessisary." He took the combat knife and in his hands and used it as a old styled screwdriver. He removed the bolts that held the front panle in place on the unit. Pausing for only a moment in front of the many wires and bio-conduets he reached in and grabed a black wire. He pulled out one end so that the bare conducter was showing. With practised persision he wound the black wire around that carbine in a way that it would not come off and the two elements could be conected with a slight ajustment. "Well I've rigged it so that I could send a jolt of power to the control pad and open the door. Now, I should warn you that it should work in theory however there are no guarenties."
"What other choise do we have?"
"Good point. Here we go." He reached down and pulled on the cord. There where a few sparks and some smoke but everything looked like it had worked. The control panle started to filcer and then glowed to life. Mikol reached out and pressed the open button. As soon as the door slid open Tech cut the power supply. He looked extreamly relived. "Oh did I forget to mention that had we over stressed the carbine it could have exploded?" He gave a rougish smile that soon dissapeared as Chan slapped him upside the head. Mikol started to speak.
"Now we have to get out of here. Let's stay focused on our goal. They've made two mistakes already so we can't count on them makeing anymore."
          "What mistaks have they made?"
"First they told us what we are capable of. Then they didn't tell us what we aren't capable of." With that he dissapeared into the crawspace.
It was so cramped that they had to crawl on thier hands and knees in single file. They crawled on with Mikol in the lead followed by Tech and then Chan. After they had gone on for a while they came upon another door. Mikol stoped and waited for the others to ketch up to him.
          "Why are we stopping?"
"I've reached a door. Should we go though?"
"We have no clue whats on the other side right? It could be the troop barracks for all we know." Suddenly Mikol had an idea.
"Computer. What is on the other side of this door?"
"The shuttle docking bay is on the other side of that door sir."
"Computer. Is anyone currently located in the shuttle bay?"
"There is one life form currently located in shuttle number two sir." Milol decided upon a plan.
"Chan, give me your blaster. I'm going to stun the person and we are going to take one of those shuttles and go back to Silimi." Chan shoke her head.
"You make it seem so easy." But she handded him her baster anyway. Mikol rwached out and pressed the button that would open the door. One by one they stepped out into the shuttle bay. It was an enormus cavern. All along the walls of the room where catwalks, marking the halfway point of their two stroy expanse. The walls where compleatly blank, there where no decorations of any kind. They wheren't even painted, just plain gray. Row upon row of shuttles of all diferent sizes. At the front of the room was a inset panle in the wall. Mikol had no idea what it could be used for.
          "Let's find number two."
"It shouldn't be that hard." Said Chan indication to the larg numbers painted on the side of each shuttle. They walked around for a few minutes, silently searching for shuttle number two. They soon found it at the back of the room. It was one of the biggest shuttles that Mikol had ever seen. It was about twenty meters ling and oval in shape. It looked almost like a flat egg except for three engine pods. There was one coming out of each side so that they thouched the ground and one sticking out the top. There was a small hatch in the stern that was open. Mikol looked inside and saw one guy bent over the controls at the bow of the ship. He soon had a plan.
"Now that guy will hear us the second that we step on the bording ramp. So we need a distraction." Mikol wispered.
"I'll take care of that, just stand by the door and wait for your oppertunity." Tech slowly turned around and walked towards the bow of the shuttle without a sound. Mikol just looked over at Chan, shrugging his sholdures and tighting his grip on the blaster. Chan smiled back with the confidence of a warrior, un-shething her combat knife and running the blade over her finger tips. Mikol wished that he could be so calm. Suddenly there was a loud knocking sound that seemed to come from the bow of the shuttle. Tech was hitting the front viewport.
"What the hell was that? Hey John, if thats you I'll take that lutenants embleme off so fast that you'll . . ." His voice trailed off as pure blue energy enveloped his body like a bolt of lightning. Mikol stood in the doorway with legs spaced far apart and the blaster held out at a full arms lenght. Chan came up behind him and looked over his sholdure
"Not bad . . .for a begginer." She walked over and started to search the mans pockets as Tech ran though the door.
          "What now?"
"Now all we have to do is figure out how to run this thing so we can get out of here." Suddenly a voice came through the speaker above the communication consol.
"Corpril Balding, Corpril Balding, come in Corpril." The three escapees just looked at eachother dumbfounded.
"Corpril, come in Corpril, are you there sir?" Tech walked over to the consol and qickly found the appropriate button.
          "This is Corpril Balding."
"Good to hear from you sir, I was starting to worry. Are you ready for your piloting lesson now sir?" Mikol wanted to yell for joy. Of all the shuttles they could have stolen they got this one. They'd all have bad luck for the next thirty years for this one.
"Well I'm a little rusty so you'll have to bear with me."
"Thats what I'm here for sir. Now you'll just press that yellow button on the center consol to disconect from the morring clamps we can guid you out via grapaling beem."
"Accnologed. Disconnecting from morring clamps. . .now." As Tech pused the button the trio could feel the shuttle raising above the floor level of the bay. The section of the floor on witch the shuttle rested was raising above the floor. Once it was a full hight above all the other shuttles it stoped riseing. And started to rotate so that the bow was faceing the indent in the wall. There where sounds of machinery working as the shuttle became disconnected from the elevated floor.
"Shuttle number two prepair for launch." Chan looked over at Mikol.
"Um, where are we being launched to?" She said while looking at the solide metal wall in front of them.
          "Launch in T- 10, 9, 8, 7 . . ."
"He knows who we are. He's going to launch us into the wall. Abort, we must tell him to abort."
          ". . .6, 5, 4. . ." Chan made a move for the com but Mikol put a hand on her sholdure.
"They woudn't do that Chan, they need us alive. Just think about it." She looked into his eyes and saw that he truly belived what he was saying. That was enough for her.
". . .3, 2, 1, launch." The shuttle lifted off the platform and zoomed toward the indented wall at an amazing speed. Just before they hit Chan looked over at Mikol.
"At least if your not right we won't have time to notice." They all braced themselves for impact.
