| Chapter 4 "We're mutants?" Mikol could tell that Chan was not going to take this lightly. "Freaks? We're carneval attractions. People will hunt us down, put us in cages and charge addmition." "Please calm down Miss Ecosse. No one below the the rank of general or captin even knows that you exist. You are a advanced breed of humans. Once we understand more of your abilities we will inform the public and there will be some people that fear you. However most people will look at you in awe. They will see you as hope. You will come to reprisent the futre and everything good in the human race." "What exactly do you know about us?" That was Tech. He looked calm on the outside but in his eyes Mikol could see nothing but termoil. "Not nearly enough I'm afraid. We have seen people influence others minds aswell as small demonstrations of telekinisess. Some patients have bossted thier senses beyond the norm as well as thier physical strength." Mikol spoke up. "I don't know about my friends but I haven't experianced any of these abilities." "You missunderstand me. You don't have these abilities. However you could if you where taught how. Some natural abilities that you have now could be a result of your advanced state. For example, Mr. Arklelle, from your record I see that you can easily memorise vast amounts of knowlege. Miss Ecosse I see that you have reflexes of an above normal reaction time and a nack for hitting moveing targets. Mr. Quenya you have a talen for technology do you not? All of these skills could have been aided by your uniqueness." Suddenly it all made sense. Why they where brought here with so much security and without warning. "And you're going to teach us how to use this power right?" "Yes we are. Our scientist have more information on this subject then anyone alive. They can help you." "And what if we don't want your help?" "I'm afraid that you don't have a choice in the matter. With or without your consent you are staying here with us for quite some time." Chan jumped out of her chair. "You can't do that." Underneth the desk the admril shifted the position of his foot and pressed down on a single tile in the floor. The security squad entered the room, this time with weapons drawn. "You will follow them to your quarters and you will remain there until we reach our destination." Chan started to say something but she caught the glance that Mikol was giving her. "I guess we don't have a choice." Mikol indicated to the others to follow him. He turned to the general. "Lead on." They retraced the path that Mikol had taken to where they exited the main room witch they would later learn id called the nexus. Somehow the stars didn't seem as bright. On the way to the M.D room they turned left down a corridor like any other. They came upon one door, alone in this section of the hall. "These are your quarters. You will remain here until called for. If you require any assistance just ask the compute by sayimg 'Computer' and then asking your question. There will be guards outside your door at all times." She reached out and pressed a single button to the right of the door. The door slid open and the trio entered thier room. Mikol stood just inside the doorway with his mouth gaping open. These must be admrils quarters. Upon entering you steped into a huge multi-perpus room. It had plenty ofcomfertable chairs and couches lined against the walls. Off to the left is a kitchen with a delivery chute where they could recive all the basics needed for makeing a meal as well as a table. To the right is a wall-screen witch currently showed a map of the ship. In front of them and beyond the main room where three doors. After entering the rooms they found that they where bedrooms with ample space for storing cloths, a bed, a full lenght mirror and a desk with a small wall-screen in front of it. All along the walls of thier quraters where beautiful paintings, mostly of the ship. "This is screwed." Tech finaly spoke up. "A well funished prision is still a prison. Do they expect us to just accept that we're never going to see our pearents or friends again? That we'll be pocked and prodded by scientists for the rest of our lives?" He looked at Mikol as if looking for answers. "I don't know Tech, I just don't know." "Wait a second. He said that our condition is evolutionary right?" "What is your point Chan?" Tech was not in the best of moods. "If it's evolutionary then shouldn't our pearents have our abilities as well?" Mikol took it from there. He knew that didn't have any pearents to speak of. They had abandoned her at birth and she had grown up in a foster home. That left Tech. "Tech, did you notice anything about your pearents?" "My dad had the same gift that I have as far as technology goes before he died. . ." Tech voice just trailed off "But my mom. . .no, I can't think of anything special about her. What about you two?" "Well Chan grew up in a orfinage and I can't think of anything at all special about my mother and I never knew my father. He dissapread when I was young. "He moved over to a wall and looked at his reflection. "Who am I? I always knew who I was and what I was meant to do. But now I don't know, I just don't know. Who am I?" As the words left his mouth his eyes rolled back in his head as he colapsed on the floor in front of him. "Mikol, Mikol are you alright? Mikol answer me." Mikol opend his eyes and found himself in a place vary different from the one he last saw. He found himself asking a question he had asked one to many times in the last few days. <Where am I?> The words didn't come come from his mouth. It didn't even move. He tried to talk but the words just went as far as his mind. He decided to look around instead of trying to communicate. <It will be really easy to discribe this place to Chan and Tech.> He thought. <Just one word, white.> In fact thats what it was, all he could see in all directions. He looked up, more of the same. He looked down. Where was the floor? He wasn't floting but he couldn't see the floor. He bent over to try and touch the ground, only to find that his legs came out from under him. Now he was standing horazontaly. Or was he? He could still feel gravity pulling him down. That was down right? How is this possible? <This is one weird place.> Suddenly he could see something start to appear in front of him. It looked like it was emerging from a thick fog. Slowly the form became a human siluet and soon he could see a clear outline of a female. She was quite tall but not to thin. After the siluet came through the details started to become clear. She had long flowing dark hair, the same shade as Mikol's. She was wearing a simple white robe that flowed along with her hair. A godess to be sure. She looked at him and smiled. <Hello Mikoleth.> Her mouth didn't move at all, he heard her voice soley in his mind. <I don't know who you are but I have a hell of a lot of questions for you.> The woman gave Mikol a small smile. <Look deep inside Mikoleth. You know who I am.> <Mom?> Mikol's eyes widened and he raised his hands up to the side of his head. <No, I have a mother. Otama is my mother. I don't even know you.> He was almost yelling now. <Calm down my son. I am your biological mother. I've been seperated from you since birth however we have been, in a way, reunited.> <I don't know how but I know that you're telling the truth.> Mikol was starting to accept this new development in his life. It certainly has been an interesting day. <But what do you mean, 'in a way'?> <Do you know where we are?> <In a place of physical impossiblities.> <We are inside you head Mikoleth.> She looked around. <This is your subconsious. We don't really exist here, we are simply images of your mind's eye.> <This is getting a little much for me. So if we are in my mind how exactly did you get here?> <That could take some explaining so I'll be direct. Mikoleth, you are of the first of a new kind of people. You have special abilities. . .> <I know all about that mom. I've been discovered by the military and I'm being transported somewhere right now.> Her face changed. It was now her turn to be in distress. <Oh Mikoleth, I'm so sorry. I made it so that I could give you this information whenever you started to question who you where. I had hoped that you would have started to discover your abilities sooner then now.> <So. . .what now?> <Well you'll have to escape from the ship. Where they're takeing you there will be no comeing back. Then you'll have to unite our people so that we can stand strong. It all depends on you now son.> <Acctualy I do have two others with me. I'll have thier help.> <You'll need all the help you can get. I'm sorry but I have to leave now. Make me pround.> She turned around as if she was going to walk away then she looked over her sholdures. <I alway knew that you'd look like your father.> Her voice was filled more with sadness then anything else. Before he could ask her anymore questions she dissapeared into the fog. He opened his eyes and found himself looking directly at Chan and Tech. He sat up. Chan spoke first. "What happened Mikol?" He looked at both of them. "I've been talking with fate." |
