May 2nd 2009 Important Announcement From Placebo Extreme

Hi Everyone, last week I received some shocking news from my web host. After 6 years of being with them they have decided to close their hosting package. Which left me with a matter of months to find a solution. At first I thought I may have to close the site down as it was almost impossible to find a host to handle the size of this website.
However after searching for ages I found what I consider to be a decent host, so now I must start transferring the site over. While I'm at it I'm going to re-design the entire website. I hope to be back online by June 1st to coincide with the single release but let's just see how things go. Many of you may have noticed that we've not been updating much here, this is because our web builder which was provided by my host kept crashing. Hopefully this will be different once we have transferred to a new host.
In the meantime all news and updates will be posted on our forums
http://forums.placebo-extreme.co.uk so keep checking there. I'll see you all on the new & improoved Placebo Extreme very soon.

September 8th 2008 Placebo Announce New Drummer

Placebo have begun work on their next album which is expected to be released early next year. The boys are currently working with David Bottril who has worked with Tool & Silverchair. Engineering the album is James Brown who also worked on the Meds album, so the next album is looking at being even better then Meds was and we are all eagerly waiting for anymore news regarding the album.

After Placebo's drummer of 10 years Steve Hewitt left the band last October there has been much speculation over who will be replacing him. We can now reveal it will be Steve Foresst. Steve Foresst was the previous drummer with Evaline who supported Placebo during their 2007 US tour so many fans will already be familiar with him.

We hope that many fans can put their bad feelings aside and welcome Steve Foresst into the band.

July 5th 2008 A Reminder About Illegal Downloads

Hi Everyone.
As most of our frequent visitors and members will know over on Placebo Extreme we have an anti download policy. Every time a new album or single is released we encourage our members to NOT download albums or tracks illegally. An album has a official release date for a reason and if you illegally download an album not only are you showing a lack of respect to the artist themselves who don't gain any royalties from illegal downloads but instead your supporting the moron who first made the album available to download.
Some forums/sites at the moment have the new hotel persona album available to download. Please DO NOT click the links as they are ILLEGAL downloads not legal ones. If you wish to download a song then wait for a release date and download it from an official site such as i-tunes where most artists place their music or from a label website such as EMI.  Please remember that you can be prosecuted for downloading music illegally.

May 30th 2008 5 Years Of This Picture Forum

Hi Everyone.
Yes it's hard to believe but it is true. This Picture forum is celebrating it's 5th anniversary TODAY!!!!!!
It's still hard to believe that it's been 5 years since I first opened the forum, in the beginning it wasn't very big with just a few little sections and around 5 members. Then over the years it's grown and attracted many more new and interesting members.
It's really nice to still see many of our original members on the forum who all followed over from the Silver Rocket forums, and meeting all of our new members.
We are a nice and friendly Placebo forum and over our years of being online we have all been to some fantastic gigs and shared our experiences and also sharing our experiences of meeting the band themselves.
Over the past 5 years the forums have seen many changes as most of you will remember. Each one being bigger and better.  We've also had some bad times like when we experienced the massiver server failure in 2006 where we lost all of our galleries and 70% of our posts & topics.  With our strong team and fantastic members we managed to pull the forum back, and using my back-up's I managed to rescue some of our lost topics. Despite it taking many weeks of constant searching and pestering the server support we did it.
In March the main site Placebo Extreme celebrated 5 years of being online and like the forums it started out small with a few pages. The main site has also been a HUGE success, even once being the most viewed music website in China. Quite an achievement.
So now I would like to say a HUGE thankyou to all of our members on here for making this forum what it is, a fun, friendly Placebo forum that everyone can enjoy! Thankyou to you all.
If anyone is still having trouble accessing the forums then just let me know and I'll check that your account is still active.

Love & Hugs

October 2nd Farewell Steve!
Placebo have parted company with drummer of 11 years, Steve Hewitt, due to personal and musical differences.
Brian Molko commented "Being in a band is very much like being in a marriage, and in couples - in this case a triple - people can grow apart over the years. To say that you don't love your partner anymore is inaccurate, considering all that you've been through and achieved together. There simply comes a point when you realize that you want different things from your relationship and that you can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak."
The split is amicable and a sad time for both parties. Steve Hewitt replaced Robert Schultzberg behind the drum kit in 1996 whilst the band were promoting Placebos eponymous debut album and went on to record the following 4 studio albums Without You Im Nothing, Black Market Music, Sleeping With Ghosts and most recently Meds.
Placebo have just returned from the USA where they were part of the high profile Projekt Revolution Tour alongside Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. The band are now taking a well earned break.
Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal will begin work on Placebos 6th studio album next Spring and are in no rush to find an immediate replacement for Steve.
