What is Mike's Update ?

Mike's update started out as an email newsletter I would send out from time to time to inform 60+ family and friends of myself and family about my condition after I learned I had a serious brain tumor.
I received right away a great deal of support from everyone who found out about what I was facing. And many people wanted to be kept up to date on the latest developments. There simply wasn't enough time in a day to move forward medically while talking to that many people on the phone about how I was doing.
So the idea came up to get the email addresses of all you folks and put them in a "group" and send out a mass email whenever there was something new.
This network of people has been crucial in providing morale support for myself and my family as well as PRAYER SUPPORT which we are deeply grateful for. |

While we were more or less based at home, it was manageable for us to maintain the update newsletter. Then it came time for me to go to Duke Hospital and have my surgery.
My Aunt Norma volunteered to take over the newsletter while we were away. While I was at Duke Hospital, my family stayed at the Millenium Hotel which was close by, very nice and an excellent value, but access to email was limited. |

The newsletter became a true family effort. As I was in the hospital experiencing my Ups and Downs, my parents and sister would call my Grandparents or Aunt Norma to keep them informed of my condition. The latest developments would get funneled to Norma, who would type that info into an email * and send it out to the group. Norma was fighting pneumonia at the time, so she really was committed to getting the update out.
