| After hanging at the gate we made our way to Tikaboo Peak beside Badger Mountain. We spotted a Hummer towing a ATV ahead of us and followed. The fellow stopped his Hummer and got his ATV unloaded. He offered to lead us down the road. Here we are in a LOADED Firefly driving down this dirt road where a Hummer driver won't even go. We were so proud of that car. Got to what we called base camp when the sun was going down. We tried but the car would not climb any higher. The trail up the mountain was marked with rock cairns so we took our flash lights and one would lead to the next rock pile and shine back for the other, then switch. When we got to our first peak we had to make a right and follow the ridge to Tikaboo then Badger. Not many problems, only a few cuts and scrapes but we made it to Tikaboo. Badger we could see but decided to stay on Tikaboo as we could see AREA51 from there. We went down from the peak towards AREA51 and founda ledge where the wind died. Gathered rocks and wood and made a fire you could see for many miles (we were on one of the highest peaks in the area). To entertain ourselves we brought up fireworks to shoot towards the base, smokes, food, water, alternate smoke and our video camera. After shooting off our first fireworks we saw in the valley below what looked like the guards running around in their jeeps. They stopped and we taunted them with more fireworks. What could they do? We always feared they would come around the mountain and take my car away. What could we do? We were miles from the car. We stayed the night watching flights come and go from AREA51 with a couple of very strange light movements that hopefully show up in the video. The next morning we got some really great shots of around the peak and of AREA51. After we ran out of smokes and water we started down the mountain. Well, we climbed it at night and got lost for a couple of hours on the way down. Mike was on one ridge and me on the other yelling back and forth to keep in touch and swearing at each other and blaming the other for getting lost. I vented alot of stress when we finally found the access road and the car. We slept at base camp til the afternoon. |
