| News of the Day Archive- September 23-28 |
| September 23- I got out of bed and started to sort of get dressed at about 8:45, and was out the door by 9:00 to head to school. Naturally I listened to Nutwood: Live at the Dawg House, which sounds pretty good in my opinion. It's nice hearing Accomodations and Razorwire in the car instead of exclusively at shows. I got to school and parked near the baseball field at about 9:20, and was able to walk to class with ample time. Philosophy class was pretty much a standard lecture, but I was kind of tired after not being able to fall asleep until about 4:30 the night prior. When class ended I took a look at my test score since I wasn't in class the Wednesday before to find out, and to my surprise I got a 94. Class was over a few minutes early so I could take my time walking to Sports Management where I met up with the Bustos brothers. It was hot outside, and the air conditioning felt nice in the classroom, where we took some notes and listened for about forty-five minutes before being dismissed. From school I headed home, taking Valley Blvd. this time. While on Valley I was going alongside a freight train that was extremely long, and slow moving. I love trains and all, but this would have tied me up for about twenty minutes, so I had to beat it to a crossing, and I narrowly beat it at Fairway. I stopped off at McDonald's for two Big Macs and medium fries since my parents abandoned me with nothing to eat while they are in Cancun. They left the day prior, in the morning, but due to my routines I rarely see them, and never even got to truly say goodbye to them. Once at home I ate my Big Macs while sitting online catching up on a few things, until I decided at around 12:45 that I really wanted to catch a quick nap before work. I managed to sneak in about twenty minutes, but it's effectiveness is a little questionable. I shaved, which the night before everybody seemed to notice that I had been lacking, then showered before heading off to work. I got there at 2:00, my scheduled time, and began a shift of nothing. I kept myself busy cleaning various things, walking the gameroom many a times, and talking to Jay the gametech for a little while (mainly about Nutwood). It's tough keeping yourself busy when you're all by yourself at work. Once David got to work I was able to talk to him a little, and even mentioned how I don't really like the four hour day shifts, and suggested that we instead have something like 2-10 shifts during the week. He didn't have a problem with it, and even mentioned it to Damon who also didn't seem to have a problem with it. Maybe now I can start getting some serious hours of work. At about 5:30 or so Robert came in and started talking with me while playing with a wind-up car from redemption. At about 6:15 my relief came in and I was able to cash out and head home. Naturally I was perfect, but with the minimal amount of money I had in my drawer, minus a weird charge done by Schaefer, it would have been hard to be off. I went home after work and sat at the computer for a while just doing the same old things. However at about 7:45 I got the idea of taking the songs from the Nutwood Dawg House show, the Nutwood church fiesta, and the Demo and combining them to get all of their songs on a CD in one form or another. So after a little work in finding the files on my computer, and putting them in a decent order, I burned what I dubbed Nutwood: Complete. It even has Distance on it. At about 8:45 I headed over to Carl's Jr. and got some food to take over to Starbucks. On the way to Carl's I got my first glimpse of the fires in Azusa, and I must say it was pretty impressive. Looks kind of spooky to be honest, like in ID4 when the ship sort of breaks through the clouds. When I got there about 9:05 nobody was there so I ate my food in the car, after trying to park three different times. At about 9:15 Shay showed up and we went to get a table. We sat there shooting the breeze about various topics, and for some reason just by sitting a Starbucks the conversations seem more intellectual. Shay was flipping through a newspaper so that was a source of much of our conversation. At about 10:15 I got a call from Smitty, whom I hadn't talked to for a while. The conversation wasn't too long, and about the time I hung up with him I sort of got tired and felt like going home. So at about 10:30 I came home and signed online as my ritual dictates. While online I caught up on the journal entries, and started talking to Tom (aka Serbo, aka Tiny) and Paul in a chat room. We said what we had to say, and were later joined by Tom's friend Lesley, and then the lead singer from Nutwood, Alfred. At about 11:30 I signed off and sat in my backyard with Gabe, who had just gotten off of work and wanted to hang out for a little bit. We sat in the back just shooting the breeze, hitting topics like how playing Chain Reaction is a must to make it in Orange County, to the fires in the Mountains, to the Broken Notes video. At about 12:45 Gabe took off, and I went back inside the house to sign back online since I am addicted. At about 1:15 I started writing the News and it's now about 1:40 which is sort of a quick update in my book. I'll probably end up falling asleep late tonight even though I have class early tomorrow. September 24- I started getting dressed at about 6:50 after lying in bed for a few minutes, and was out of the house at about 7:20. I got to school at about 7:40 and sat in the parking lot listening to some Nutwood. At about 7:50 I started walking to class with Robert who was about five spots from me, before parting ways. In my Religion class we took a quiz on Buddhism, and naturally I didn't study, so I probably did poorly, like I did on my Hinduism quiz. After the quiz the question of the day was who our favorite celebrity was (each day when Joseph Lee takes role he asks a question of the day). Since my last name is Anaya, I don't get too much time to think about my answer, so I just blurted out Tom Hanks, and it wasn't until about three or four people later I realized I should have said someone like Kevin Smith. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. An hour later the lecture was over and I walked over to my next class, Bio 6. The class was a typical one, with Mr. Petersen lecturing from various topics like the brush fires, to cleaning up the Mt. SAC wildlife sanctuary. Even though the lectures are interesting and funny, the class seems to drag on, but eventually 11:00 rolled around and we were dismissed. I drove home, taking Valley again to Fairway, but didn't stop to get anything to eat this time. Once at home I sat online for a while before deciding that I was kind of tired, hence I took a nap and didn't wake up until about 5:00. When I woke up I signed online as usual, and sat there not doing a whole lot until about 7:00 when I decided that I would go out. I was planning on meeting up with the fellas at Starbucks at 8:45, so I figured I'd head over to Fullerton and watch the Southwest Chief roll in at 7:45 (go ahead and laugh, I like to watch the train, so what?). So I drove down there and got into the parking lot at about 7:20 and sat there for about ten minutes before getting a call from Smitty. He informed me that at the sort of annual trip to Knott's Scary Farm (which consists of Smitty, Nick, and Ben) I would be the only one without a date. Hmm, look up "awkward" in the definition and you find it says "going to amusement park with three other couples while you go stag". Nothing against them having dates, but it sort of put me in an uncomfortable place (no, not the back of a Volkswagon). Well that sort of bummed me out, and just as I hung up with him the Eastbound Southwest Chief pulled in to my delight. It took my mind off some things for about ten minutes while it sat in the station. When the train pulled out I got into my car and decided to drive over to Starbucks, but I got there a little early, so I decided to walk over to Ralph's to buy a pack of gum. I was almost a little mad that they didn't have Doublemint, but upon closer inspection of a new brand of gum I realized that they had just changed their packaging. So I walked back to Starbucks, sort of taking a long way since I had some time to kill, and found that there weren't any tables so I just sat on a bench for about five minutes before Sean and Steve showed up, shortly followed by Gabe and Shay. Eventually a table opened up and we all sat around it, which was about the time that Alfred and Paul showed up. Conversation was pretty typical, mainly about Nutwood, parking at school, and things of that nature. I hadn't really eaten so I went and bought a slice of pizza and Pepsi at about 9:30, and I must say it was pretty good. We moved to another table, and that's when the topics took on a more porn theme, and Shay again admitted a relatively homosexual tendency/desire, but this isn't the right place to divulge since this is a PG site. PG-13 at best. We sat there and watched as people tried to go into the Starbucks, but it was closed because they were working on the tile, so that was some more of our conversation. They lost a lot of business, but it's Starbucks so I don't think it will affect them that much, and they can afford to take the hit. At about 11:00 Shay, Steve, and Sean decided it was time to leave, and at about 11:25 the rest of us called it a night. I came home and signed online as usual. I sent Dennis a couple Dawg House songs, read Tom's journal (I like reading all the journals, and hope everyone keeps them going), and then started to write the News at about 12:15. It's now about 12:50 and I'll probably stay up watching tv and sitting online for at least an hour. September 25- I woke up at about 8:45 and got dressed, heading out the door by about 9:00. I parked and got to class on time at 9:30. In Philosophy we had a quiz which I got a 16 out of 20 on without even reading the material, and the rest of the class was spent listening to a standard lecture. Class let out about five minutes earlier than usual so I got to take my time walking to Sports Management, even stopping for a couple minutes to talk to Kris Ellison. During class we watched a video of some motivational speaker which was a little boring, but there were a couple funny jokes in it. Towards the end of class, at about 11:45 we could hear what sounded like a helicopter, and when class was let out we walked into some fire engines and ambulences parked nearby, and the sight of a medical helicopter taking off from the baseball field. On the way home I went down Grand Ave. and saw the scene of an accident that looked pretty bad. It was a truck that took out some trees in the center median, and I'm thinking that was the reason for the helicopter. I stopped off at Del Taco to get something to eat, and got home at about 12:30, eating my food while in front of the computer. I just sort of relaxed until about 1:30 when I got in the shower, and ready for work. By 2:00 I was at SpeedZone reporting for duty, and I saw a bunch of cars in the parking lot, though luckily they were for a large group, which doesn't usually affect me too much. Work was pretty boring to say the least, since I spent a vast majority of my time alone like most 2-6 shifts. I spent a lot of time occupying myself by cleaning games, walking the gameroom about a hundred times, and briefly chatting with Phillip the gametech. The first hour or so seems to be going by pretty quickly nowadays, but after that it really drags on, however 6:00 finally approached and Marisa showed up, a little late, but at least I now had company. Shortly after her, Montes showed up, though he still had some time before he had to clock in, so I went from being by myself to having two people as company within about ten minutes. Since there wasn't any cash control, I couldn't cash out my drawer, so I sort of just milked the clock for a while before eventually seeing Damon, and telling him I was off at 6:00. By that time it was about 6:45. A couple minutes later I was getting cashed out, and there was almost a scare when Damon started checking an old twenty dollar bill that he thought was counterfeit. The money counter thought it was legit, so that was the end of that. Naturally my drawer was perfect, and I was on my way home. In the parking lot I ran into Robert Taylor and talked to him for a couple minutes before he had to go into work. I went home and sat online for a little while before Gabe came and picked me up at about 8:15 to head over to the 99 Cent store. Before getting in the car I started chewing a piece of the Doublemint gum that was supposed to be "longer lasting" and to be quite honest, it really does last a long time. While in the store looking for some sort of cup holders for my truck the flavor continued to last, and even after we left and were on our way to In-N-Out at about 8:35 or so there was still remnants of flavor, but they soon were gone. At about 9:00 we went to my house where we were joined by Alfred and Paul. We watched Chasing Amy, which was only briefly interrupted by trying to watch the CKY videos on the new CD, and Alfred and Paul making a pit stop at 7-11. When Chasing Amy was over I tortured Alfred by playing the Dawg House cd, and it was pretty funny watching him react to hearing himself. We then started watching the music videos on the Dirty Dancing DVD (I don't even know why we have that one) which was about the time we were joined by Ricardo. We started watching Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which wasn't my request, and it was tough for me not to talk about various bits of trivia throughout the movie, but I tried. Unsuccessful at times though. The movie ended at around 1:00, which was around the times that Gabe and Ricardo decided to leave. Paul and Alfred weren't too far behind since we only watched a couple deleted scenes, and the gag reel before they left at about 1:15. I then went and sat at the computer for a while, watching a little Conan before starting to write the News, but I was having some computer troubles so I had to change computers to finish the second half of the update. It's now about 2:25 and I have an early class so I'll probably be heading to bed relatively soon. September 26- Today I woke up kind of late, at around 7:30, so rather than show up late to my Religion class, I figured i would just sleep in until it was time to go to my Bio class at 9:30. So I went back to sleep for a few minutes. I woke up at 10:45. Looks like I missed my class. Oh well. So I went back to sleep and didn't wake up until about 2:00 when the phone rang. I just sort of sat around the house, mainly on the computer until about 3:15 or so at which time I got into the shower and got dressed. At about 4:15ish I decided I was pretty hungry and decided to head over to Del Taco since I had it the day before and was quite satisfied. I drove down to Del Taco and ordered my food, the total coming out to $5.80, and I paid with a ten dollar bill. For some reason my first thought was that the change was $4.20, which I seem to have been noticing the past few months or so. It must be the power of suggestion since Paul always makes a big deal over it, the same way Tom (aka Serbo, aka Tiny) once made a comment that he always sees the time 11:11 and now it seems like I see it all the time as well, and Little Chris' staring at feet has me looking (but not attracted to). Wierd I suppose. I was going to go to Target to see if they had cup holders, so for some reason I decided it would be best to park in the parking lot of In-N-Out to eat my food. So I did, but for some reason I didn't have much of an appetite so I only ate about half of it before deciding to not go to Target and instead head over to SpeedZone to see if maybe Paul or Gabe was working at 5:00. When I got there Paul was so I talked to him for about ten minutes, with really no agenda whatsoever, and by about 5:10 I was on my way home. When I got home I sat online and finished eating my Del Taco. I really didn't do much online other than occasionally talking to the few people that were on, watch tv, and occasionally look at some sites. This went on for the next few hours, and it wasn't until about 8:45 that I talked to Sean about doing something, and we decided Starbucks was the best answer. So at about 9:00 I went over to Steve's house where he played a little guitar while waiting for Sean to show up. When he did we made our way down the street to Starbucks where I actually decided to get some coffee, opting for a warm drink as opposed to the cold that they opted for. We sat outside despite none of us being smokers and talked about various things including the oppossum in the parking lot, some compulsive behavior (like not being able to close a window on the computer when text is highlighted), and Sean's UFO experience. At about 10:30 the patio closed so we made our way over by my truck where the two of them proceeded to write in the dew on top of my truck, while continuing the conversation. At about 11:10 or so I dropped them off at Steve's house before heading over to SpeedZone where I met up with most of the group. We waited for Gabe and Paul to get out of work while sitting around Robert's truck. Eventually they came out and we hung around for a few minutes before heading over to Denny's. I took the freeway and got there in no time. Denny's was pretty normal, with pretty typical conversation, including how Shay is a nasty eater, and the service was pretty good. We were finished eating (I got the Club as usual) at around 1:00, and pretty much everybody had dispersed by about 1:15 except for Paul and I. We just sort of hung around talking about mainly SpeedZone and employee promotions, and before we knew it 2:00 rolled around and we called it a night. I came home and sat online for a couple hours, checking out the Burning Tree Projeckt web site among other things. It's got nothing on the Nutwood site! Well it's about 4:00 and I'm thinking I should probably get to bed about now. September 27/28- Today was Friday, meaning I had no reason to wake up early, so after falling asleep to Charles In Charge at 5:00, I woke up at around 1:30 in the afternoon. When I woke up I sat at the computer for a little while as usual, but before I sat around for too long I decided that I should get dressed and head down to SpeedZone to pick up my paycheck. So at around 2:30 I did get dressed, though I didn't leave for "the Zone" until about 3:00, which was shortly after checking Tom's journal. He called me and mentioned a midday update regarding me. Thanks for the concern Tom. When I went down to SpeedZone and got my check, and to my surprise it was a really good check. Brian McGee asked to see me and explained why my check was so high. Apparently the Warner Bros. group I had worked a couple weeks prior had left a hefty tip, so I had $130 in gratuities added to my check, bringing the total to a personal best $363.03. After that I went and talked to Rachel about my overtime, and she told me she thought the 7-day situation meant during the pay period, but I told her my position and said I'd be back once she had a chance to read the manual. From getting my check I went outside to G.P. where Paul and Gabe were working, and talked to them for a while, occasionally being joined by Taylor and Noy. We stood around talking for about an hour covering a variety of topics including, but not limited to, Nutwood, SpeedZone, and the fair. At 4:30 Paul was let out of work so we decided we'd go take care of our respective paychecks, and meet at In-N-Out. So I drove down to Washington Mutual on Colima and deposited my check, while withdrawing some money for the week, and the trip to the fair in a couple hours. But before making it to the bank I was in the left turn lane and some moron ahead of me took forever to leave and cost me the light. Needless to say that I was mad that I had to wait for another cycle of lights when I could have easily made that one. But I digress. I met up with Paul at In-N-Out where I got two hamburgers, fries, and drink, and I must say it was great as always. Although the bread seemed to taste a little different, and the fries seemed a bit thicker. We sat there eating and finished at around 5:20, so I went home and took care of some business before heading over to Robert's house at 5:45. It was Robert, AJ, Gabe, Steve, Little Chris, and myself before Paul showed up a few minutes later. Shortly after that we were on our way to the L.A. County Fair, one of the highlights of the year. So me, Little Chris, AJ, and Steve rode with Gabe while Paul and Robert rode in the other car. After stopping to get cigarrettes, we were on Nogales when a car of cholos pulled up alongside of us prompting AJ to nod his head toward them while wearing a pair of mirrored sunglasses. For some reason they started flipping us off while kind of staring us down, but they were little punk kids and were not deemed to be a threat. There was a lot of traffic on Nogales, and none on the freeway, so we cut across to Fairway in hopes of reaching a less congested Valley. Due to a down traffic light we hit a lot of traffic, and even saw a poor guy having to push his broken down car across the interesction. We also saw the crossing guards come down on the train tracks, forcing some stupid people to go around them, risking their lives, and/or the sanity of a railroad engineer. Well after driving down Valley we passed the street we wanted, Fairplex, despite my hinting to Gabe that I thought it was pretty close. Eventually we made it to the fair where we hit a lot of traffic, but we were able to persevere and managed to find a parking spot. The five of us walked to the ticket booth, while on the way AJ almost took out about three cars by walking into a ribbon used as a barrier that dragged the heavier plastic barriers into a couple cars. We paid the $10 and got in at around 7:00. Just inside the gate everybody except for AJ had our picture taken together before wandering through the midway area, looking at the various rides. Eventually we made our way out of that area and started taking a look at the actual fair, and walked through some of the vendor areas. Occasionally we kept in contact with Robert and Paul who were having some trouble parking. The five of us walked around a little, and even went into one of the exhibit buildings before establishing a meeting point with Paul and Robert, which was a the exhibit with the kid's drawings and model train underneath the grandstands. On the way there I had to stop by the outdoor model trains, which didn't appear to be a highlight of the other members as it was mine. After being there for a couple minutes we met up with them at about 8:00, and it gave me a chance to see the indoor model railroad, though I didn't get to see them for as long as I would have liked to, it was enough to suffice until next year. Robert, Chris, and I saw a guy from our Geology class that was pretty annoying watching the trains. From there we started walking around the fair as a complete group, going through the exhibit buildings. The exhibits are pretty much the same every year, and it seems like the same Direct TV, and chamois are everywhere. And there's sort of a trash element that goes there, and it's great to see the variety of individuals that you walk amongst. But that's what is great about the fair is that it never changes. In one of the exhibits there was a belt salesman, so Paul stopped to take a look, and a Confederate flag buckle caught his eye. Naturally we all laughed and when he said he wanted to get it I didn't believe him and assumed he was joking. I was wrong. He bought the buckle, but the episode would not have been complete without the trash vendor saying that Paul had picked the best one out there, which was hilarious. From there we continued to walk around going through the buildings, walking past the vendors, which managed to seduce Robert and Little Chris, and watching AJ never stop eating. At around 10:00 or so we decided it was about time to eat so after some deliberation I bought two hot dogs on a stick, and a lemonade for $8, and it was pretty good. But when I was done I was still kind of hungry so I decided to try a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich for another $6.50. It was pretty good, and it topped off my eating for the moment which came out to a pretty hefty total. Meanwhile Steve bought some kettle corn, which I can't say I'm too fond of, and had everyone's attention as he ate the kernels individually. At the end of the meal time we finished up the last couple exhibits, and it seemed like everyone except for Paul, and I were ready to go home. So we started heading toward the gate we came into, which was in the midway, but we got heavily sidetracked with a couple things. One of the first was of a sort of modern day organ grinder, complete with a monkey wearing a dress collecting money from people. I noticed the crowd and remembered that as being one of the things that never changes, so I dragged everyone to go look at it, and that too was a source of laughs. I had a quarter so I gave it to Little Chris since he seemed to be enjoying the monkey the most, and it took the coin from his hand, while sucking on a lolipop. Poor thing didn't look too happy, but it sure was entertaining. After that a couple of the guys got deep-fried Twinkies, which didn't seem appealing to me at all. While walking I spotted the AAA booth and mentioned the plastic keys for your wallet, so we all went to it. I already had one so I offered to make one for Gabe who was prerrt much the only one of us without AAA. There was a guy having his key made that said Robert looked like the guy from Sugar Ray, who had just played at the race track, so Paul made a comment about him being hansome which sparked a bunch of gay comments which seemed to make the lady making the keys laugh. Also while we were standing there Little Chris looked off in the distance and noticed that there was a Chinese food place that was shaped like a Chinese food carton. It was really funny to see. After we all got our keys we continued walking through some more vendor areas when I noticed a place with hats, so in continuing in my quest to find a new Sonics cap, preferably fitted with the new logo, I went to see. I looked and looked until I came across the old logo hat, which is what I already have two of. But just above it, to my surprise was the new logo, though it wasn't fitted, and the strap was velcro. However, beggers can't be choosers and I bought the surprisingly rare cap. Paul had spent the entire night looking for a classic rock booth, but he never found it. While walking out we watched some "ride" where they hoist the people high into the air, and then simply drop them into a net. It was sort of bizarre just watching people free-falling into a net, and it seemed a little dangerous, but I guess the carnies know what they're doing. Right next to that ride was a band called Suburban Legends, and watched them for a couple minutes before going to look at the picture we had taken when we walked in. It wasn't all that great, but it was still fun to see. We walked back to the cars and Gabe skillfully worked his way out of the parking lot. The ride home wasn't that bad because at 11:30ish there wasn't any traffic on the freeway. We all went to Robert's house and just hung out there for a while watching some tv, and were joined by Tom (aka Serbo, aka Tiny), Ricardo, and Big Chris. On TBS they kept showing the stupid Monkey Movies and only a couple were any good so the rest were pretty boring to sit through, especially when they played them again in the exact same order. The party eventually moved outside where we talked about the upcoming cabin trip, and the awards categories to go along with it. Eventually, at Tom's request, we moved back inside to watch some more tv, though there wasn't anything good on. At about 2:40 or so everybody left, including myself, and I came home to sit online for a little while. I started writing the News, but only got about halfway through the day because I was pretty bushed and ended up going to sleep at about 4:30 or so. I woke up at around noon and talked to my parents for the first time in person in about a week. After talking to them for about half an hour, and watching a little bit of their Isidore-dampened vacation video I got dressed for work. I clocked in at 1:07 and assumed the role of redemption since there wasn't any cash control around, and there wouldn't be until 5:30. Luckily things were never that busy for me, and I even had some time to just walk around the gameroom. At about 2:00 Christine showed up and she inquired to Ryan whether somebody would be getting a drawer, and he offered it. I ended up with it, so I was stuck on drawer at the redemption side, but it beat actually doing redemption which had grown a little more crowded. Things weren't too bad at my drawer for the most part, and at around 3:00 it started raining so the tracks were closed. It was great telling the customers that the tracks were closed, and I enjoyed stressing that the weather is unpredictable so I wouldn't know when the tracks would open. By around 4:45 I moved my drawer to the operations side with the intention of going on break relatively soon after. That didn't happen and I spent most of the time telling people I didn't know when the tracks would open, and walking around doing nothing. Finally at a little after 6:00, around the time that Slick Track opened followed by Turbo, I went on break. On break I had chicken fingers, and they were declicious as always, while watching Blind Date in the breakroom. When I was finished with my break I went back on drawer for about an hour or so, though I didn't spend nearly the entire hour at my drawer as I wandered around the gameroom, and things like that since there really wasn't much of a crowd. At about 7:30 I cashed out my drawer, and I was nine cents over, but it was because Ryan had given me nine cents to put in my drawer for some reason, so in essence I was perfect. I went back to operations to get my drink and briefly talked to Christine since it was her last day working. She gave me a hug and we said our goodbyes and I was out the door on my way at about 7:45. I went home and took care of some business, and changed my clothes before heading off to some party that Nutwood was playing at. I showed up and talked to Tom and Shay who were trying to organize some drinks. We went into the backyard and just sort of stood around for a while waiting for the bands to play, since it wasn't just Nutwood, but Lloyd's debut show. At 8:30 Nutwood went on and they put on a pretty good set in my opinion. When they played Accommodations of Desire Alfred made a comment about me knowing the words, so naturally I was pleased. That song is great. During the set it started drizzling, but it wasn't enough to stop the music, though I could see the concern while Sean played. There were a few people there, however after they finished, and Lloyd started playing there were a lot more. Lloyd seemed to be pretty good for their first show, I mean you can't expect them to be great in their first effort. It started raining some more while they played, but again it stopped. After the music ended, everybody just sort of ended up in the front of the house, as did Shay and Tom, who sat down with me on a brick wall. It was pretty funny watching the two drunks sit there talking about various things, and making stupid comments. We ended up going back to the backyard, and nobody else was really back there. That was about the time that Robert and Paul showed up, having missed the shows by about forty-five minutes or so. One of the funnier moments was when Tom, Paul, and myself mockingly introduced ourselves as part of the band, and then passing Shay and Tom off as twin brothers to some girl. I doubt she believed it all, but it was still pretty funny. It was about that time that Ricardo really wanted to take the equipment back to Sean's so we went back outside where Sean was having trouble starting his car, so some guys helped him push start it. We went to Sean's where Tom wanted to drop off his car at his house so I obliged and drove his car to his house while Paul followed us and drove us back. It was about midnight or so at this time and we went over to Denny's for some food. Those of us that went to Denny's were Steve, Sean, Paul, Gabe, Tom, Alfred, Little Chris, AJ, and one of his friends. The dinner chat was pretty standard, or at least as standard as possible, and ranged from the Clerks cartoon, to some more Nutwood chat. For dinner I got the Lumberjack Slam and it was delicious as always, and not to mention quite filling. It was the perfect amount for me as I polished it off (minus one bite of pancake) without any difficulty. Paul drew a picture of "String Cheese" which was pretty funny and a noteworthy moment, as well as Tom having the hiccups. All of us went over to Ricardo's house after eating, which was around 1:00 or so. When I walked into the backyard I was a little startled when I saw the amount of people back there, much more than the normal amount, but the atmosphere in the corner with Dennis and the normal players was the same. We sat there in Ricardo's backyard for about an hour or so talking about the normal things like colors, The Ladies Man, and watching Little Chris take apart a lighter. The group sort of whittled down a little, but by about 2:30 or so the Midnight Society crew (or most of it) decided it was about time to leave. I gave Tom a ride home before coming back to my house to sit online for an insane amount of time. I watched most of Mr. Baseball on USA while writing the News and when it ended at 5:00 started watching Coach on Nick at Nite. It's now almost 6:00 in the morning and I have been online for over three hours since I got home from Ricardo's. It's now time for me to get some sleep. |
