| About Me |
| For those of you who don't know me, and also for those that do, my name is Michael Anaya, and this is my contribution to the internet. Like I said, my name is Michael but I usually just go by Mike, though I also respond to things like "hey you". I am twenty years old and currently reside in the tiny suburb of Rowland Heights, California, which lives in the distant shadow of Los Angeles. Like everybone else, I complain that there is nothing to do around where I live, but that oouldn't be more the contrary. I live in probably one of the best places because on a local level we have most major forms of entertainment within a twenty minute drive, including movie theaters, malls, bowling alleys, and things of that nature. On a larger scale the beach is merely an hour away, and places like Hollywood, and Disneyland and other touristy spots are not that far either. About thirty hours a week or so I dedicate my time to my employer: SpeedZone. This is where the local and not so local people go to race cars with lawnmower engines, and play outdated video games that barely work. It's not quite as bad as it sounds, but like anybody else, I tend to badmouth where I work because after a while you just start not liking the place. At SpeedZone I have been trusted with handling the money for the cashiers, as well as supervising them, which was a promotion from actually being one just a few months prior. I have been there for about a year and a half now, though my initial plan was to be there no longer than a year. The best laid plans of mice and men... When I'm not at work, I am supposed to be at school where I am scheduled as a full time student. I attend Mount San Antonio College where I am taking general classes in order to transfer, but I still have no idea what I want to major in, and I am running out of time. To be quite honest I think I am burnt out when it comes to school because I've really let my studies deteriorate. Not having a goal really does that to you. So as of the Summer of 2003 I am going to skip taking summer school and hope that in the Fall I will be rejuvinated, and ready to go again. Until then I'll continue to miss classes and let my G.P.A. drop like a stone. I enjoy spending time with my friends whenever I get the chance, though it seems like my schedule conflicts a lot of times so it doesn't happen quite as much as it used to. However we do hang out when we can, though we are not exactly the most active of crowds. We often strive to accomplish some sort of activity when we get together, but ultimately we always end up just sitting around talking, sitting in one of our backyards, doing nothing. To an outsider, this probably sounds like a boring crowd, but it's just what we do, and sometimes good company is all you really need to have a good time. To pass the time I spend a tremendous amount of time online, most of which is spent watching friends sign on and off without talking to most of them, or checking out some regular sites, or occasionally updating my own. Most of the time I'm at the computer, I'm also watching tv as well. There aren't too many current shows that I enjoy, and instead find older ones to be my favorites. Of those include Seinfeld, the older Simpsons, and Late Night with Conan O'brien, which is by far the best talk show on tv. I also enjoy movies, however I find myself watching less and less of them, including my favorites. I very rarely go to the theaters to watch new movies for a couple of reasons: recently there haven't been too many that I really wanted to see, and I am just too lazy. I enjoy the experience, and have told myself to stop being so lazy and just go, but I don't. Some of my favorite movies include all of the Kevin Smith flicks, Dumb & Dumber, and Raiders of the Lost Ark to name few. From such movies I find myself reciting quotes a lot, most of which are relatively obscure and go unappreciated. However, I sometimes get out of hand and it bothers people when I constantly talk about quotes, so I have tried to keep it to a minimum. Music is something I never really cared too much about for most of my childhood, and it wasn't until later in my life that I started to appreciate it more. As a result, my music choices seem to be heavily influenced by what those around me listen to. I used to limit myself to classic rock, but that has since changed to more modern tastes including bands like Sugarcult, and Death On Wednesday, just to name a couple off the top of my head. I also have a group of friends that formed a band about a year ago called Nutwood, and I really enjoy listening to their music as well. A couple songs of theirs that are good are Accommodations of Desire, and Razorwire, so for those that read this and don't know me or them personally, you should check them out some day. Now that you know a little bit about me, I hope you take a look around the site a little more, and that you enjoy what you see. If you like what you see, please tell me, or sign the guestbook as few have done. I always like to hear ideas, suggestions or comments about the site. 5/1/2003 |
