This is a departure from the norm: it is shareware. It's unlimited use, with one "about" nag screen at the start. It's here because it's small - 14k - and highly useful. (Description below written by the author)
As Windows programs use and free memory, the systems RAM becomes fragmented, causing memory requests from programs to be delayed or even refused. This tool defrags your computer's RAM so your programs can run at optimal or that "just booted up" speed. It also monitors your memory and adjusts memory allocation to different programs.

Resource usage is different than RAM usage: this little utility will either give you a fast indication, by running the mouse pointer over the system tray icon, or by clicking on the icon, a full visual report. The smallest and easiest to use Password reveler I've used. Rather than a pop up window, this you can run, then minimize to the taskbar. Just move your mouse over the **** and it reveals your password. Great little download if you've ever forgotten your passwords.

Metapad Text Editing Utility. Replacement for Windows Notepad 30k
There are dozens of notebook.exe replacements out there. This small freeware package is, to me, the best I've found.

Hard to describe: closest is that it's as different from Word Perfect as you can get. The interface is multiple "tabs", that indicate notes, journal, letters, etc. All documents are stored on one "drawer" super easy to use, you have to try it to appreciate it. Started by a group of ex-word perfect employees, they seem to have a handle on what's frustrating with todays current WP packages. Give it a try. Screenshot

Bytefree Disk Utility. Reads the freespace on your harddrive. 29k
What prompted me to stick it here was a 3.4 meg file that I Downloaded for evaluation. Uncompressed, it took up 54 megs of space. Moral: Monitor your freespace.
