My name is Mike O'Hara. I've been able to trace my "roots" to County Leitrim in Ireland. My great great grandparents were FELIX O'HARA (1821-1877) and CATHERINE MCPADDEN (1825-1911). They most likely were married circa 1843 in Inishmagrath parish in Drumkeeran. They left Ireland during the famine and arrived in New York City on 3/17/1851. They were aboard the ship "Empire State" and had three small children with them. Soon after their arrival they came to Rochester, N.Y. and they had seven more children.

cover from 8/1851 to 4/16/1902. These were hand written in latin. I transcribed what I could
                    from them.

On 12/17/03 I received in the mail a package from cousin Henry Clay (New Hampshire). He has been doing research for some time now and has provided me with more dates and info. His grandmother was Katherine O'Hara (Felix's daughter). Over the next few days I'll be "plugging in" this info. He also informed me that he heard from his grandmother and her sister "Ellie" McLaughlin that their parents were from the "Lake Country" of County Leitrim. Specifically Drumkeeran and Drumshanbo. They said Felix had to "travel over the hill" to court his wife to be.  THANK YOU HENRY!!!!!!!
My father, WILLIAM O'HARA passed away on 5/6/02. His death came four days before his 87th birthday. He was a great guy and an inspiration to everyone that knew him. He will be sorely missed. He was buried on his birthday which at first we thought was lousy. However we then realized that it was a great "present" for him to be with his wife EVELYN after 12 yrs. We gave him a nice "Irish" send off and we had the hangovers to prove it. Here he is holding great grandaughter EVELYN (Summer 2001).

On 1/18/09 my cousin Shaun O'Hara died unexpectedly. He was a  31 year veteran of the Rochetser Fire Dept. He retired about 2 yrs. ago as a captain. Shaun was a devoted family man and an outstanding firefighter.
He could build or repair anything and was more than happy to help out anyone in this regard. The enormous turnout at his funeral showed how well he was liked and loved. He packed alot into his 57 yrs. but it was still too soon to leave us. We'll miss you Shaun and hope that the song about having no beer in heaven is wrong.
FINALLY, GOOD NEWS!!!
Here is LEAH MARIE KENDROT with big sister, EVELYN. Born on 4/4/09, 5lbs.15oz &
19 inches long.
