Archeologist Shimon Gibbson stands on the foot-washing stone found in the newly discovered “John the Baptist Cave” located near the ancient city-ruins of Tzuba. For the record, it is the oldest known mikva (spiritual Bath) in Israel, predating all others (non-temple) by half a millennium. Aside from this cave, the oldest date to the Hellenistic period (around the 2nd century BCE).
