| I'm writing as fast as I can to update the site with pix and news. August pix are here.. September starts Pig Brother you must look up this site. Castaways for Pigs....plus....silly games which Kathy challenged me too.... I've been practising my skills at Frisbee Dog and gained 140 points before I sliced it's head off.. Mums To Do List is gradually dwindling down!.. we are still going to be busy for afew days yet. Took off for a few days to visit the lastest addition to the family. We visited The Eden Project at St Austell, Cornwall today, the10th, we expected a quiet day, now the children are back at school, but it was still busy. The dry weather has been good news for the farmers allowing them to lift potatoes, spread dung, harvest corn, bale straw, plough, till and roll, just the maize is left standing tall. Tuesday 11th Terrorist Hijack & Attack USA. Destroying the Twin Towers in New York & a wing of The Pentagon in Washington. A further plane crashes before reaching it's target. Horrific pictures are shown on TV, 1000's are killed outright, including 100's of British. America seeks revenge but 1st must find the culprits. The world has been rocked but not all countries will react the same. Mike was playing golf at the time whilst Mum & I were exploring Launceston. Life must go on. All US airports are closed, here many sporting events are cancelled etc. Friday 14th National Day of Remembrace with services and a 3 minute silence from 11am. All stopped at The Royal Cornwall Show. We visited on Friday. The last w.end for us at home. Monday we spent the morning packing and checking with the airline, David had us moving cows after dinner, then we found time to cut the lawn. Not a bad days activities. Tuesday Mum & Dad took us to collect the hire car from Plymouth and we drove to Fareham to spend our last night with Mikes Mum. Wednesday 19th. We were on the road at 7.30am it was drizzling 54oF 13oC. Arrived at Gatwick at 9.00 dropped off the car and went to check in. The flight was scheduled for 12.25 but the flight was not posted on any screens yet, surprised at this, I sat with the bags and Mike scouted off to gather information. As I waited the screens flashed up our flight check in at Zone B, Mike returned to say check in was already in progress at Zone D, so we wormed our way through the crowds of people and checked in. Then tacked ourselved onto the queue (line) to filter through to customs and baggage check, this took 1/2 hour. We then queued to get something to eat..our breakfast. This is when we noticed the flight delay to 13.10 apparently the flight was late arriving from The States. Eventually we were called to the boarding gates and loaded. Just as we were settling in our seats the Chief Purser told us to collect our possesions we were in the wrong seats, Mikes cousin had spoken to his chum the Pilot and upgraded us to 1st class. We were extremely well looked after nothing was too much trouble, we ate, drank and slept well and even went into the cockpit to say thank you to the Pilot, Simon SKELTON. The 9 hour flight was a lot more comfortable and we were amongst the 1st to disembark and start the next process of queueing. We collected our bags, then stood for 1 1/2 hours to clear customs again, get a stamp, x-ray all the luggage again, checked 2 of our bags, before we put them on another carrosel. We took the shuttle and eventually met up with our luggage and our friends waiting patiently to wisk us away. We're now settling back into Florida life, tennis, golf, cycling, BBQ's & salads. Everyone is feeling patriotic and flying their flags (made in Tiawan) so we have the English Flag flying which has caused much debate, as no one recognised it. They are familiar with the Union Jack (which is actually the Union Flag, it's only a jack when flown from a ship) The Union being England, Scotland & Wales (St. Davids flag of Wales not the new Lion version). So I got to looking up flags...how many have the Union "Jack" in their design? You'll be surprised.....Have a guess! 15 Can you name them? Keep going I'll list them for you later. |
