Mollusks Weekly

It seems in our modern society, where life has become so complicated and so hectic, we have completely forgotten the little things in life. (I'm sure you are familiar with the expression "It's not the size that counts but how you use it." But I digress!) After all, it is the little things in life that make all the difference. Little things like mollusks.

Mollusks are underappreciated, persecuted and discriminated against. The source of these sentiments towards mollusks is misunderstanding and lack of education. I am here, as a disciple to the inquiring, devoting my body and sole (that's a little fishy, ha, ha, ha!) to the awareness, appreciation and protection of mollusks everywhere. So every two weeks, I'll write an article and, hopefully, I'll include a picture, diagram, visual aid, whatever. This week though, I'll give you a bit of background info.

What?: A mollusk is a soft bodied animal that is usually encased in a shell.

Where?: Everywhere! Mollusks live in salt water, fresh water and even on land.

When?: Mollusks have existed for millions of years.(Since the pre-Cambrian period 500-600 million years ago.)

Who?: The word Mollusca was first used by Aristotle over 2000 years ago.
