The Big Bang Theory -
About fifteen billion years ago there was a tremendous explosion which
spewed forth everything that exists. After this big bang, the elements began
to settle, forming the galaxies. In some galaxies, among them our own Milky
Way, solar systems formed.
In a solar system, planets are pulled into orbit around the star, or sun, in
the center. On most planets, if not all, gases stir and interact with the
elements, creating atmosphere.
On Earth the atmosphere and the sun enabled life to spring forth and
foster and grow and evolve, over the course of billions of years, into every
living thing that has ever existed here. Beginning, in relative order, with
algae and fungus, amoeba and plants, insects, fish and birds, reptiles and
mammals, and finally mankind ourself.
