MIGRANTE appeals to Congress to hasten Gloria's impeachment and stop defending a fake, anti-OFW President
For OFWs and their families, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo should resign, be impeached or be ousted before any talk of charter change and federalism is seriously pursued.
"We o verseas Filipino workers, our families and the Filipino people are strongly appealing to legislators in Congress to stop putting up obstacles to the impeachment of Macapagal-Arroyo. Congressmen should immediately stop defending an illegitimate and corrupt president," MIGRANTE Sectoral Party Chairperson Connie Bragas-Regalado said.
The Migrante leader and former Hong Kong domestic worker hastened to add that "we have long suffered from the various anti-OFW and anti-people policies that have worsened under the Macapagal-Arroyo regime. We continue to suffer under an illegitimate president who is trying hard to cover up the issue with the intent to change the 1987 Constitution," Bragas-Regalado said.
Migrante also supports the establishment of a transition governing council in order for voices from overseas Filipinos and all sectors of society to be heard.
"The problematic system of government will definitely be addressed by the transition council. But the first step must be taken: the impeachment of Arroyo. The charter change-cum-Gloria exit proposal of former President Fidel Ramos is a bare-faced maneuver to get the reins of power along with Jose de Venecia. We OFWs and families oppose this proposal. Gloria must first be impeached or resign and face all the legal consequences of her actions in the last elections and policy directions during her entire term," Bragas-Regalado ended. #
