The Town Meeting
Although we've been a city for longer than anyone can remember, we believe in giving everyone who wishes the opportunity to voice their oppinions.  That is why we still hold town meetings.  And that is why you are here!  So let your voice be heard..                     ...P.S. that means sign the guestbook!
Welcome citizens!  Welcome visitors!  You are cordially invited to take part in today's discussions concerning city affairs.  Newcomers are welcome to sign the guestbook.  And in the process they may apply for citizenship.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Metrokadia, here is some basic information:

In a plush green valley, with mountain ranges on three sides and a waterway on the other, there is a city.  Our city!  It was originally called Nok-Bokka-beaushoo by the native people of ancient times (which means "The Beautiful Valley" in their tounge).  After Mighty Mikail arrived about 3 generations ago and liberated us from oppressive rule, everything changed!  In the last 100 years since our independence we've become a technological giant with millions of inhabitants.

Our most recent piece of exciting news has been the official renaming of the city from Nok-Bok, to Metrokadia.  It's inhabitants are now called Kadians or Metrokadians, instead of Nok-Bokkians.  The only exception to this would be when we are speaking historically, or in the rare event that we are referring to a pure blood descendent of the ancient Nok-Bok tribe.

Metrokadians have always admired beauty, and it is reflected in our architecture.  This is influenced largely by our strict adherence to a philosophy of balance and integration.  As a result, we value the preservation of a natural environment in spite of our massive growth more than anything else.
This has not however, deterred us from incorporating every piece of technology possible into our society.  For example: for decades we have boasted about our efficient city police force.  Each officer makes use of a cybernetic implant in the head and in the left leg.  The head implant helps with communications and sidearm accuracy.  Meanwhile, the leg implant makes travel on our "zero friction" streets possible without the assistance of a vehicle.  We have also aquired hover technology for our transportation system.  The military has developed teleportation portals and invisibility suits for its covert operatives.
But despite all this, most average Kadians prefer doing things the old fashioned way.  It's not uncommon to see a medievil looking structure only a few blocks from a towering skyscraper, or a sail attached to a hovercraft.  This brings us right back to our core belief of integration.  Too much of anything is bad.  But a little of everything gives you the best of all areas!  Take this into consideration, and your time spent in Metrokadia will not have been wasted.
