Introduction |
Greetings! I am Mighty Mikail. If you are reading this then you are among the privelaged few whom I have allowed to know the truth about my journeys. Here you will find a personal account of how my life story progressed broken into varioius major events. Each story is listed in chronological order... (or at least as chronological as you can get for a time traveler like myself).
"Time traveler!" You might be saying to yourself. Yes you heard it right. It is a little known fact, and a well kept secret. But how else would you explain my extensive role in the history of Metrokadia. I'm not that old!!
My story begins in the days of my youth when I was still living in the land of Thul as heir to the throne. My brother Thomual told me about an interesting metalic object that he had discovered. I went down to see for myself and after a little bit of apprehension, ventured into the opening. (see picture on right).
When I got inside I fell, and began to slide down into some sort of chamber. It was dark, and I was scared. The only thing I could see was a faint red glow on the other end of a small corridor. When I got into the room containing the light, I saw an odd mechanism with a large red gem in it. I touched the mechanism, and in a flash, became horribly disoriented and then passed out.
When I awoke, strange lights were glowing all around me. It was as if the chambers had come to life like the night sky. I wandered around until I discovered a way out. What I saw next was something I couldn't have even begun to describe until months later. I had somehow been transported to another place, or another time, or both! The technological development outside was far beyond anything I had ever imagined, or prepaired myself for. Before I could do so much as gather my bearings, a flying ship of some sort began to make a horrifying noise and emit a series of colorful lights. The sight of it put me into shock, and I fainted. |

Blasted into the past! |
I awoke dazed and confused in a hospital unlike any other hospital I have ever seen before or since. A nurse promptly arrived and asked me how I'd gotten there. Before I had a chance to reply she started to ramble on about how I must have gotten drunk after a costume party, then passed out. I had no clue what she was talking about! I didn't even know where I was! But I went along with her story because I knew there was no use trying to make any sense out of it. I decided to trust myself rather than these strange people, so I did what I could to get promptly released.
I wandered the streets of the city which they called "Kaslinden" for days, trying to figure out where I was and what exactly had happened to me. Eventually I discovered that I was in the capital city of a race calling themselves "Man-kind". They were space travelers who had settled on this world for the purpose of building deep mining facilities. They had also named their colony Inkaran. Once I had learned all of that, it took me even longer to discover that I was not in fact in the future... I was in the distant past!!!
By studying their history, I learned that these "humans" had colonized the planet only recently by their own standards. Their primary motivation was to increase their wealth. Thul and Metrokadia did not exist, and Asguard was not known of. The humans boasted of their superiority as a race, and I couldn't understand how they could have transitioned from the thriving surface dwellers that they appeared to be here, into the reclusive subterranean people that they eventually become by the time of my birth. |

The Time Craft |
I returned to the place which had brought me to this strange time period, and discovered that it was in fact some sort of military craft with time travel capabilities. I found the red gem, and took it. Later on, I combined it with a family heirloom and made an amulet out of it.
One day while wandering the streets of Kaslinden, I heard sirens from the city rescue vehicles and so I followed them on foot. There had been a vehicle collision and a woman was trapped underneath the rubble. As the rescue team waited for the proper extraction tools to arrive, I became impatient with the way things were going. So I went over to the vehicles and lifted one of them with my bare hands. I moved it to the side and then tore the door off the vehicle that the woman had been trapped in.
An officer of the military who had been called in as part of the rescue effort saw what I had done and was astounded. He was unaware that my source of strength came from the heirloom in my amulet which posessed strength granting powers. The officer offered me a job as a soldier under his command.
I was desperate for money so I accepted his offer without hesitation. I was assigned an entry-level security guard post and recieved proper military training. Eventually I was assigned a security position at a scientific research lab. Wanting to know as much as I could about this new culture, I snuck a peek at their latest weapon of war.
To my amazement, it was the exact same ship that had taken me to this time in the first place. Only this one hadn't been built yet! I pulled some strings to stay on this particular assigment, and continued to monitor it's development.
Things began to come together in my mind. This ship (or "Leaper" as it was called) was designed to leap over small intervals of time to have an edge in combat. It could predict troop movements, or reverse it's own capture or destruction. At least theoretically. It hadn't been tested yet.
But I knew it worked. The Strengthening relic that I had on me must have amplified the time travel capabilities of the Leaper. That red gem was the superchip that made the time leaps possible. I didn't know how to use it just yet. But I was determined to figure that out. When the time was right, I planned to steal it and then use it (hopefully) to return to my own time. |

The arrival of an enimy |
One day the nature of life in Kaslinden changed in an instant. A report came in on the news that a shipping vessel had become lost and came in contact with some of the terrestrial inhabitants on the planet. The existence of these strange people was completely unknown to the humans until now. They called themselves Asguardians and started demanding things in an unknown language. The humans on board the vessel tried to communicate with them, but the general aggression of the situation was out of hand. It was unclear who attacked first, the encounter quickly became a hostile one, and all of the humans ended up getting killed.
General Mulbourn promised the people that he would get to the bottom of this matter, and deal with these hostile terrestrials. People were having mixed feelings about these "Asguardians" because anyone with the power to destroy humans, must have the potential for great power. However, the human army was far too powerful to ever be defeated. So things went on as usual, for the time being at least. One day at work I overheard some scientists talking about the Thelesi of Thelandren. I figured that they were either some alien race or a group of Asguardians, but I couldn't be sure either way. Whatever the situation was, it sounded like there was unrest in the political structure of Inkaran.
A few days later an official meeting with the Asguardians was announced. The meeting didn't go well. Despite the use of highly sophisticated translation methods, a basic discussion between the two races proved to be very difficult, if not impossible. The humans didn't know Asguardian mannerisms or customs. The Asguardians did not understand the human mentality and way of life. The meeting ended with both sides more angry than they were going into it. Rumors began to spread around through word of mouth until the official announcement was finally made, "Inkaran was going to war!".
I knew something big was about to happen (that is, something even bigger than perceivable). I knew this because I knew that Asguard was not a force to be reckoned with, and because I knew that this city did not exist in my own time. So I decided to make my move to steal the Leaper at the first possible window of opportunity that I could get. But there was no such window available to me. |

The Renegades |
A few days later I headed into the woods toward the crash site of the old time vessel. I was hoping to learn any more information about the Leaper that I could. It was dark out and I came upon a glimpse of a dim light in the distance. I quietly wandered toward it to see what it was that could be happening this far out into the woods.
When I got close enough I noticed a small group of unusual looking warriors sitting around a campfire. There were a few women, and the rest were men. They wore medievil armor and had fancy decorations on their uniforms. I could tell that they were Asguardian soldiers from the decorations on their armor. Suddenly, I was grabbed by an invisible force! Clearly one of the Asguardians had spotted me and snuck up behind me. What I soon realized, was that he had prevented me from noticing his approach by making himself look like a plant. A being with that much magical ability was not something I wanted as an enimy.
He dragged me to their camp and told his colleagues how he found me. I pleaded with them not to hurt me, but I don't think they would have spared my life until I started speaking in their own language. Shocked and intrigued at how a human could could speak Asguardian, they tied me up and began to question me.
I told them that I even though I was not a human, that I was from the human city. I also let them know that I was willing to help them in any way I could. They did not believe my word or my ability to fulfill it, so I told them I'd prove it. Then I used the power of my strength amulet to break my bindings. They immediately felt the power of an Asguardian relic, and demanded where I got it. I explained to them that it was a family heirloom. Confused, but satisfied, they allowed me to sit and eat with them.
They began to tell me about their situation. The team's captain Luftspieling the Illusionare was givin a special mission to spy on Kaslinden. He had brought his most trusted friends with him to help him in his mission.
Their names were: -Knus the crusher (man-warrier) -Revnet the whirling gale (woman-valkyrie) -Lavsky of the mist (man-warrier) -Klaffe the seraph of volitation (woman-valkyrie) -Forvandlingen the shifter (man-warrier) -Sunnere the screamer (woman-valkyrie) -Iakttar the watcher (man-warrier)
They set out on their mission with confidence and in stealth. But before even reaching the city limits they were attacked by a swarm of mechanical and manned attack vehicles. Iakttar sensed the attack from afar, but that only kept them from being slaughtered. Despite their best efforts to avoid the attacking force, they soon found themselves battling for their lives. Iakttar was the first one to realize the true distructive power of the mechs. Having the least manuverability of the group. He soon became an easy hit for the mech's targeting sensors. Though he was able to help the others avoid harm, he could not do the same for himself. Iakttar could not dodge a missile blast quickly enough and was killed by it. The others fought the Mechs at lenghth but Luftspieling (realizing their inevitable defeat) created an illusion of a giant beast with six arms which threw trees at all of the enemy vehicles. They became confued just long enough for the raiding party to slip away in a fog that Lavsky had made.
Now the raiders were waiting in the woods until they could figure out what do do. They could not figure out how to get into the city undetected, but also could not return to Asguard. If Luftspieling had gone back with a report that their party of 8 trained warriers and valkyries had been defeated in battle, and then fled from an inferior race such as the humans before their mission had even begun; they would be labled renegades and excecuted.
I thought about their situation as I listened to them, and realized that my window of opportunity had come. I told them about the security clearances that I had, and how I lived in an apartment with plenty of room. I could offer them a place to stay, a way to eat, and a means to attain information. In return they would have to pledge to assist me in aquiring the Leaper for myself. They became very excited at the opportunity to redeem themselves and agreed to my terms. |

The Infiltration |
The next day I returned after making provisions for them to stay. I brought disguises, but Luftspieling told me he didn't need them. Forvandlingen had turned himself into a bird and followed me home to test confirm the truth in my actions. He brought back a photograph and Luftspieling used it to make the party look like average citizens. Soon I had snuck them into the city limits, and we were at my home.
As the next few days went by, the fighting outside of the city got more and more fierce. The renegades were ready for the final phase of their reconnaissance mission. They wanted to view the human's weapons of war and top secret projects. And I was going to get them in. But I was no fool. Before helping them any further, I made them fulfill their end of the bargain.
I took the renegades the facility as guests and led them to the end of the non-restricted acces area. Then Luftspieling created an illusion of a raving lunatic to distract the people. We slipped by security and the group split up. Lavsky pumped water vapor into the ventillation system and soon it became very hard to see anything from a distance. Sunnere, Forvandlingen, and Luftspieling headed toward the armory. Klaffe helped Lavsky find an easy way of escape. And Knus came with Revnet and I to find the Leaper.
When we got to the entrance to the hangar where the Leaper was stored, a huge door had been closed and locked shut. Knus was a heavyweight in comparison to the others and he had long arms as well. He stretched his arms out and grabbed the door by the cracks on either side and pried it off of it's hinges. When we got inside nobody was there except for a few scientists. Revnet used her wind powers to blow projectiles into anyone who tried to stop us or to push them out of the way. The door to the Leaper had been left open, but it was attached to two large braces on the ground. Knus and I stood next to each brace and began to lift at them. With great effort, we managed to pull the craft off of the braces. I got in the cockpit and started it up. I had been prepairing for this moment for months. I had studied the console at the crash site and used my knowledge of other human vehicles to figure out how to fly the Leaper. I flew very poorly, but I managed to get it out of the hangar.
When we got outside, Lavsky spotted us and signaled for his comrades. To my shock Knus and Revnet just jumped out of the back hatch without warning. Klaffe flew up to meet them, and caused them to fly as well. Then the four of them went back down to find the other three. As I attempted to get the leaper out of the area, the thickest fog I had ever seen began to form. Then a narrow tunnel appeared in the fog just in front of me. I flew through the tunnel and it led me right outside the city limits.
Giving a sigh of relief, I began to relax. Then realizing what I had just accomplished, I started to laugh. (Bang!) I had celebrated too soon. Six heavily armored centurian crafts were right beside me, and they were shooting! I tried to swerve but it wasn't doing much good. Then I remembered. I was in a Leaper. The ONLY Leaper!! I quickly searched the controll board for the trigger to the time travel mechanism. As soon as I found it I set it for the farthest leap possible, then hit it! The Leaper began to hum and vibrate. Then in an instant and in a flash of light, it lept.
I looked on my sensors and my attackers were gone. I had done it! Then I looked down at the time tracker and became very dismayed. I had only skipped ahead 6 days. "What went wrong?" I thought. There must be another way to get my amulet to interact with the Leaper. I landed the Leaper in a small grassy knoll near a hover bike that had been stowed there. Then headed back to the city. When I got through the forest and had a clear view of the city I almost crashed my bike from shock. THE ENTIRE CITY WAS IN RUIN! |

The Apocalypse >incomplete< |
Mikail speaks to a few of the human survivors. They tell him some of the account of what happened. Asguard has been making raids on the ruins and picking off the survivors.
War went ballistic (literally). Asguardians attack city and are decimated by elete mech forces. Humans send a barrage of huge missiles and Mechs toward asguard. Also many war ships. Asguard counter atacks with fire giants and a rain of fire and lightning. The tide swells up, and the city begins to crumble. Asguard turns the missiles against the human city and destroys it. But not before most of the humans flee into the mines. Everything is destroyed. A foggy haze created by Asguard prevents anyone from knowing Asguard's fate. It is assumed to be destroyed by most because of the sheer mass of the human attack on it.
Mikail goes to a mountain valley to investigate an unusual ammount of fog there. He meets the renegades and they tell him their account of what happened to Kaslinden: Sunnere saved comrades from attack, and is severely injured by a bullet. Lavsky creates a mist to escape, but then can't see the fate of Asguardian army. Luftspieling leads his comrades to the valley, but is followed by a mech. He tries to ward it off, but can only distract it. He leaves to battle, it, and is tragically killed by the mechs heat trackers.
Mikail escapes in his time craft. Renegades settle in the valley of Nok-bokka-beaushoo.
Valley named: Nok utsikt fjell blokkere klar ned (The sufficient view of the mountains interlocking the plains below). Later to be known as Nok-Bokka-beaushoo ("the beautiful valley" in Nok-bokkian dialect). |
