This Estate Planning Seminar will offer an in-depth look at “Business Succession Planning for LGBT Business People.” This session will discuss a variety of business succession scenarios: charitable and other gifting, selling, mergers and acquisitions, employee stock option programs, and taking public. Valuation considerations will be discussed, along with the many creative charitable mechanisms for ensuring income streams for yourself, your partner, and the community. Sorry, this extraordinary free seminar (including a buffet lunch) is available to registered MGM members only. Please check your July MGM Calendar (snail mail or email) for the details.

Sunday August 28th Escape San Francisco’s summertime fog and enjoy MGM’s annual Day Trip to the Russian River. Each guest will have a choice of visiting either the undeveloped Fred MacMurray estate at Wohler Bridge OR Fifes Guest Ranch in Guerneville. MacMurray Estate at Wohler Bridge The MacMurray estate is a favorite site of the local community. You can swim in the warm Russian River, sunbathe on a small strip of sandy beach with others, or stake out your own riverfront area by yourself. Or you can enjoy one of numerous private niches formed by vegetation on a huge meadow and sunbathe alone or with new friends. Or you can stroll in the shade on trails through 450+ acres of old-growth redwood forest and watch deer, quail, and rabbits while savoring the incredible scents of nature. You can enjoy level trails or hike up steep ones. The MacMurray estate is NOT for you: IF you are subject to unpredictable medical emergencies, as you will be in a rural area with no cell phone service or toilets for 5 hours; or IF you cannot walk for 30 minutes on level ground for about one mile with a backpack/tote to and from the river. Fifes Guest Ranch Pool Fifes Guest Ranch Riverfront Completely different from the MacMurray estate is the Fifes Guest Ranch. Fifes is a 15-acre LGBT resort with a pool, a sandy riverfront beach, meadows with lots of grass for sunbathing, a gym, bar, a restaurant, and public showers. The resort is very popular with tourists rather than locals. Regardless of which destination you choose, you will have fun socializing with midlife gay men to and from the Russian River area in an air-conditioned private passenger van or minibus. Participants will be encouraged to change seats periodically so that they can meet someone new. The van will be available for boarding at 10:20am in the front of Ellard Hall (100 Diamond St. at 18th Street) in the Castro district of San Francisco. The van will leave at 10:30am sharp. The van returns to the Castro at approximately 6:30pm. Bring your own food, beverages, toiletries, and ice chest, as we will not stop en route for meals. A $25 donation includes everything except Fifes day-use fee ($10, pay Fifes when you arrive, if you choose to visit Fifes). Before noon Friday August 12th, book your reservation by calling in your name, phone, street & email addresses, and VISA/MC info to (415) 863-1581 (10am to 4pm Monday thru Friday) or by mailing a check (payable to MHR-ASG; memo as MGM Aug. 28th trip) to MGM, MHR-ASG, 4321 18th St., San Francisco, CA 94114. Book ASAP to avoid the waiting list. Disabled persons needing special accommodations must state their special needs at the time of booking. Because MGM must prepay the van weeks in advance, this trip goes regardless of the weather, which has been excellent for the past five years at trip time. No refunds if you cancel for any reason. For any questions regarding this trip, please email MGM. If you cannot go on this trip but might be
interested in different future day trips, please email MGM and ask to be placed on our Travel Mailing List.
Ongoing Do you have access to a minivan, passenger van, or a minibus that you could use to drive MGM midlifers on short out-of-town day trips once every other month or so in exchange for a significant tax deduction? MGM will pay for all gas and tolls. If interested, please email MGM. Ongoing

directives, DUIs, landlord/tenant rights, or your particular area of legal
expertise? If you are a physician, why not offer a health workshop on your
specialty? If you are a CPA, why not offer an accounting workshop on the most
helpful tax-reduction gimmicks and offshore vehicles? If you are in finance, why

times! Ongoing
Calling all computer geeks--share your expertise! Calling novices too--if you know how to operate an older computer, you know enough to help. Volunteers are needed for our Computer Project to help prepare donated computer systems for delivery to low-income members. We also need any disks of Windows and Macintosh operating systems. We also need any edition of MS FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop, Elements, or Album. We also need working printer cartridges and any power cords as well as printer, USB, and Ethernet cables. Please email MGM if you would like to help someone feel more connected with his community through the Internet.
