One great day after another! -midlantwx

    10/22/00,4:59pm

It's been another excellent day here in the Mid-Atlantic, about 70 degrees in N Virginia with mostly clear skies. Looks like another great day is on tap for tomorrow as well.

This Was Another Nice Day -midlantwx

Today was yet another quality day in the mid-Atlantic, save a few degrees cooler. Some thin cirrus and a few puffy white fair-weather cumulus could be seen, along with light variable winds and an abundance of sunshine. The high temp in Woodbridge was around 65 degrees with DP's in the high 40's making for a crisply mild late-October day in northern Virginia and most of the rest of the mid-Atlantic region.

It Was A Nice Day...... -midlantwx

It was a nice day, but with more clouds than expected. Temps rose into the 60's alright but we saw some high and mid-level cloudiness roll into the mid-Atlantic today. There may have been a few sprinkles in S. Virginia. It was still a nice day and as of 8pm in Woodbridge, Virginia it was cloudy but still a fabulous evening.

    Yet Another Great Day! -midlantwx

Today was yet another great day in Virginia and most of the mid-Atlantic region as highs reached near 70 degrees. Even with the altocumulus/stratocumulus cloud deck overhead, it was still a nice day. For the most part, it was overcast but by 5pm a few breaks could be seen in the clouds. Quite a bargain day for this time of year, considering how stormy and chilly it could be.

    An agreeable day..... -midlantwx

We had very dense fog this morning. At 8AM the fog was so dense that visibilities were down to 1/10th of a mile. As a result there were a few accidents in the northern Virginia region but no injuries or fatalities reported. It was foggy into early afternoon. High temps only rose to the mid 60s because mid and high-level cloud decks obscured the sun and held temps down. By 4PM the ceilings had lifted and there were even a few breaks in the altostratus/altocumulus layer but still no direct sunshine. But it was still an agreeable day and still a bargain, considering that it is late October.*

A nice day in store for mid-Atlantic -midlantwx

    10/27/00,11:21am

We have a nice day in store for Virginia and the rest of the mid-Atlantic today: Mostly clear with temps in the Mid-70s ! Winds will be light and there may be some high thin clouds from time to time. Altogether a very nice day for late October.

    Windy Today....... -midlantwx

    10/28/00,11:39am

It is very windy in the mid-Atlantic as another dry cold front progresses through the region. North-Northeast winds will continue to increase to 20 mph with gusts to over 30. There will be many windblown clouds streaming in from the North as the cooler air advects in. It is already getting quite windy here in Woodbridge, Virginia with some gusts in excess of 25 mph. It's just nature reminding us it's almost November.

    Clear and brisk today -midlantwx

    10/29/00,5:30pm

It was very clear today, and quite brisk, with a N breeze at about 12 mph that gusted at times to near 20 mph. This was a much cooler day than we've been seeing here recently, and it's much more representative of the weather for this time of the year in the mid-Atlantic region. It was definitely sweater weather with that breeze, which made it feel like 40 degrees, even with the high temperature near 50. Fall is here, winter is on the way !*3.13a

    Another Brisk Day.... -midlantwx

    10/30/00,10:33am

It's another brisk day here in Virginia and the rest of the mid-Atlantic region, with crystal clear blue skies and N breezes about 8-16 mph. It should warm up to around 55 degrees today with wind chills ranging from 40-45 degrees. Not a bad day, clear and just a little brisk outside. Certainly a lot better than those folks up in Maine with all that snow and strong winds ! Have a nice day !

It's starting to warm up ! -midlantwx

    10/31/00,7:15pm

Today was a clear, breezy and warmer (!) day. Those fall colors really stood out in a beautiful contrast to the spectacular blue skies we enjoyed for yet another day here in the mid-Atlantic region. We did have a breeze, about 7 - 12 mph, but boy, was it NICE today !!!! Absolutely gorgeous out, a great time to drive around and view all that wonderful fall foliage! The morning was chilly, around 32 - 35 degrees, with frost for the 3rd straight morning, but then it warmed right up, into the low 60's. A great day yet again !*3.13b

    One nice day -midlantwx

    11/1/00,8:43pm

It's true, it did start out cold today, as in 26 degrees at 6:30AM and our 4th morning in a row with frost (It took me 20 minutes to scrape it off my car windows). But this morning and today did have their compensations. At 7AM the early morning sun shone it's burnished golden rays upon the fall foliage. That was quite a sight to behold against that deep blue morning sky ! Then, there was the day itself: An absolutely clear deep blue sky, light NW winds 2 - 8 mph, and high temps near 65 degrees !! I know this is November 1st, but you wouldn't know it from the daytime weather. It was nice out, like Spring. Hey, let the good weather just keep on comin' and comin'! We'll take it, this is sure a lot better than tornadoes in Nebraska and blizzards in the West !

    Nicer yet ! -midlantwx

    11/2/00,8:39pm

Today started out cold, at 27 degrees. We had frost for the 5th time in 5 days. But then the sun came up and, boy, did it warm up. The amazing things that happen with dry airmasses continually surprise me. It got up to 67 degrees ! When you look at the calendar it's hard to believe it's early November, it's been so nice for so many days! It was clear, the winds were very light, oh what a great afternoon !

Partly sunny and nice again ! -midlantwx

    11/3/00,4:56pm

This was another nice day ! We saw some cirrostratus and cirrocumulus move in overhead from a SW direction, filtering the sunshine, but temps still reached the 60s today. Winds were light. It seems our string of delightful weather keeps going on and on !*3.14

    More nice weather today -midlantwx

    11/4/00,10:43am

Continued nice today but with a high overcast. Upper-level moisture streaming in from the Texas storm will veil the sun, but temps will still get into the mid 60s. Winds are N at about 8 mph but will increase later today to 10 - 16 mph as a dry cool front crosses Virginia. Once again, not too shabby for early November.

    We've got some clouds..... -midlantwx

    11/4/00,8:31pm

It was cloudy today. At first we saw a high overcast composed of cirrostratus and a broken deck of altocumulus beneath that. Later, as the veiled sun disappeared behind a layer of dark altostratus, we saw a drop or two of rain but no more. Depite the gray overcast the temps still reached about 64 degrees. There was a WNW breeze at 7 - 15 mph.

    Cooler today..... -midlantwx

    11/5/00,4:57pm

North breezes today chased yesterday's clouds away, replacing them with coolish weather and a few white fair-weather cumulus from time to time. The wind blew about 10 mph, with a few gusts to 18. Wind chills felt like 43 degrees. The highs today rose into the upper 50s. A bit more like early November.*3.15

Nice today, may rain later in week -midlantwx

    11/6/00,10:35am

It will be nice today with the high near 60 degrees and winds 5 - 12 mph. Skies will be clear. We had a chilly morning with a low near 25 degrees (Brrrrrrrrr!) This was a heavy frost and the DP was running 25-27 degrees.

A weather system now in the central U.S. will move east and may bring rain to help battle those wildfires in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina, as well as ease the 5-week+ dry spell in the mid-Atlantic region. Let's keep our fingers crossed, we need that rain badly !*3.17

Some clouds but nice out -midlantwx

    11/7/00,7:07pm

We had variable clouds but it still warmed up to about 63 degrees, setting the stage for great voting weather. I did go out this morning and vote. Winds were light and variable, 2 - 7 mph. This was a real nice day for an Election Day all right !

    m27

    Great weather today ! -midlantwx

It will be partly cloudy today, with the high temps near 70 degrees ! Only light, variable winds 2 - 7 mph are expected. Tomorrow we might get rain !!! That will be great for the fire areas as well. Boy have we had a warm fall this year ! The nice days go on and on and they can just keep on coming.

RAIN ON THE WAY !!!!!!!! -midlantwx

    11/8/00, 8:52pm

Here in the mid-Atlantic we finally have rain on the way !!!!!! And do we need it !!!! We have wildfires raging in the Shenandoah Valley and in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

This rain should help out a whole lot !!!

THINK RAIN !!!!!!! THINK RAIN !!!!!!!!*3.17b

    Rain is imminent..... -midlantwx

    11/9/00,10:52am

We have cloudy skies here in northern Virginia with light winds and temps in the mid-50s. A lot of rain is on the way today and tonight. A low pressure system in S Illinois is moving NNE. A warm front associated with this low is pushing northward through the Ohio Valley-Mid Atlantic into the Northeast. Ahead of a trailing powerful cold front, deep Gulf moisture is being drawn north and eastward. Later this system will draw upon Atlantic moisture as well. Ahead of this cold front is a broad area of rain, which is tracking in a NNE direction.

Some Southeastern states and the Mid-Atlantic region will receive rain today and tonight.

    Tomorrow the Northeast gets wet.

This badly-needed rain should help out the wildfire-fighters today and tonight.

If you live in the Carolinas watch out for thunderstorms, some of which could be severe.

    We got some rain..... -midlantwx

    11/9/00,8:36pm

We did get some rain today but not near as much as I originally thought. Part of the afternoon we had light rain and a period of moderate rain at 6:45PM that lasted 20 min. After that we've had mostly drizzle.

Despite the clouds we did get up to the low 60s.*3.19
